The TPC difference: 10 reasons golf travelers will love playing where the pros play

Life on the road can be an unpredictable place, and that's particularly the case when it comes to choosing which golf course to play away from home.

Even when you look at golf course reviews and rankings, there can still be some uncertainty as to what the course's experience details. A top-rated course may not have a driving range, or a full restaurant, or locker rooms, or top-notch maintenance.

That's where the TPC® Network comes in. Comprised of 34 properties in North America and the Caribbean, including 16 publicly accessible facilities, TPC delivers consistency and luxury to traveling golfers and its membership.

Here are 10 elements you can expect at TPC properties throughout the world, all of which designed to make your away-game as exciting and hassle-free as possible.

Meeting the needs of the business traveler

PGA TOUR players are members of the TPC Network, so players like Jim Furyk (TPC Sawgrass) or Kevin Na (TPC Las Vegas) are often stopping by, whether at home or on the road. The needs of these TOUR pros, however, aren't all that different from any business traveler, when you think about it, and TPC facilities cater exceptionally to the needs of each.

TPC courses carry multiple rental club brands and various shaft flexes, so you can choose the type that fit your game. Each facility has full shower and locker facilities, so you can change and head to meetings or anything else on your travel schedule, and staff can assist with luggage shipping and other transit services.

Complete practice facilities

At every TPC property, you can expect a full, well conditioned practice facility, including driving range, putting greens and short-game areas. So if it's been awhile since you swung the clubs, be sure to show up early and hit every shot in the bag before heading to the first tee.

Tournament-level playing conditions

Not every TPC course currently hosts a PGA TOUR event, but all TPC agronomy staff are well trained in the PGA TOUR setup, from conditions to rotating tee box and pin locations on a daily basis. No course within your destination will be in better condition on any given day.

Also, at select PGA TOUR venues such as TPC Sawgrass and The Old White TPC, you can walk the fairways with a caddie, just like the pros do come tournament time.

Full service dining facilities

There's always going to be more than a snack bar or grill at a TPC property; you'll have the chance to have a full meal after your round, both lunch and dinner. TPC Sawgrass, for example, features NINETEEN, which offers a seasonably changing menu and a large outdoor veranda overlooking the Stadium Course.

In Texas, TPC San Antonio features fine dining in the clubhouse at 18 Oaks, or walk up to High Velocity, one of golf's most unique sports bar & restaurant concepts, highlighted by a 120-foot-long HD television.

At TPC Louisiana, golfers can get a taste of New Orleans at the TPC Grille, complete with Cajun cuisine and Southern hospitality at the host of the PGA TOUR's Zurich Classic.

By the way, you don't need a tee time in order to enjoy these restaurants and others at public-access courses in the TPC Network.

Group and outing special services

TPC staff can assist with setting up special tournaments for groups of all kinds. Buddy groups can take advantage of scoring and tournament services with a TOUR feel (including PGA TOUR-style yardage books). Or, corporate groups can enjoy a day of team-building exercises like speed golf, hole design workshops and putting contests. Golf group golf lessons, including a GOLF101 program that teaches skills and etiquette, mean beginning golfers can see what it feels like to get the tour treatment.

Facilities in the best destinations coast-to-coast

The TPC sports public facilities in the top destinations in North America. Scottsdale (36-hole TPC Scottsdale), Myrtle Beach (TPC Myrtle Beach), Tampa (TPC Tampa Bay), Naples (TPC Treviso Bay), Las Vegas (TPC Las Vegas), San Antonio (TPC San Antonio), Palm Springs (TPC Stadium Course at PGA West) and Jacksonville (36-hole TPC Sawgrass) are all top destination plays.

In the Caribbean, Puerto Rico's TPC Dorado Beach and Colombia's TPC Cartagena, in the colorful coastal town, make for top winter golf escapes.

Stay-and-play in style with luxury hotel partners

Within these top destinations, quality accommodations through partner properties are always around the corner. The Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa, for example, is a 65-acre resort that recently experienced major upgrades. The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country is one of the newest and largest luxury golf hotels, and has seven restaurant concepts steps from 36-hole TPC San Antonio. The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, meanwhile, is adjacent to the TPC Scottsdale and home to one of the desert's best spas, the Well & Being Spa, plus five pools and world class tennis facilities.

In Las Vegas, the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa delivers an entirely different and luxurious experience compared to Las Vegas Strip hotels, set on 50 acres filled with lush gardens and a pool area filled with waterfalls and whirlpools, as well as Spa Aquae and various restaurant options fro Italian to sushi and tapas.
