We're on the hunt for great greens in the bluegrass state. Golfers played courses throughout Kentucky in 2016, and we compiled the top-rated. Kentucky's golf scene is most well known for Valhalla, the private club owned by the PGA of America that hosts the Ryder Cup and PGA Championship.
The rest of the state's golf courses, meanwhile, caters to highly affordable public courses. In the top 20 below, you'll see just how many top courses are state park facilities, too. A couple university-affiliated courses, as well as golf resorts made the ranking.
To compile our state lists, we used a similar method to that of our our national Top 50 ranking. A course's score is based on their overall (50%) rating and subcategory average (50%). Reviews are weighted based on how prolific that reviewer is on Golf Advisor, and a course receives a bump in their rating if their score is better than that reviewer's average score.
