COROLLA, N.C. -- Opened in 1996, The Currituck Club is certainly one of the premiere golf courses on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Designed by Rees Jones, the fairways are generous, but there is plenty of water with large bunkers as the course runs along large dunes and seaside vegetation. Add in some wind (which is almost always present) and you've really got a challenge.
The course is a par 72 that measures nearly 6,900 yards from the back tees. A semiprivate ClubCorp facility, it's located near the Currituck Lighthouse and beaches, where wild horses still run free. Laid out near the town of Corolla, the Atlantic Ocean is just a quarter mile to the east and many of the holes run along the Currituck Sound on the west. The course also has earned Certified Sanctuary status from Audubon International.
