Golf Advisor Matt Ginella: Where should you play in Ireland?

Golf Channel travel expert Matt Ginella didn't hesitate when a viewer inquired about where to play golf in Ireland. He directed golfers to the famed southwest coast, home to many of the prized Irish links. He named the Old Course at Ballybunion Golf Club, Waterville Golf Links, "Doonbeg" (now called Trump International Golf Links Ireland) and Old Head Golf Links among his favorites.

Not mentioned: The Old Course at Lahinch Golf Club and the
Tralee Golf Club are just as revered and scenic as any links in the world. Dooks Golf Links is a more affordable, underrated place to play.

The viewer also inquired about the weather in July. Although the temperatures should be comfortable, liquid sunshine can happen any time on the Emerald Isle, unfortunately. "You just have to take the plunge and take all kinds of clothing, because you never know," Morning Drive co-host Cara Robinson said.
