Enjoy the day on the Mountain View Course at Desert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert, California
PALM DESERT, Calif. -- To Tom and Beverly Benjamin of Indiana, the Mountain View Course at Desert Willow Golf Resort rules the Coachella Valley.
"I live to play this course," Beverly said. "It's well maintained. It's lady friendly. It's just beautiful. I think it is the nicest in the desert."
The 6,913-yard Mountain View, which opened in 1998 and underwent a million-dollar renovation in 2009, provides plenty of playability with strategic moments thrown in. The scenery of the surrounding Santa Rosa Mountains adds a panoramic backdrop.
Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry -- with an assist from pro golfer John Cook -- splashed water upon some of its best holes. Long hitters can tempt fate by going for the par-5 sixth hole in two. It's just 476 yards from the tips with water in front. A hidden creek cuts the ninth fairway, another par 5. Depending upon the tee, the 200-yard 11th hole can be all carry over a pond as well.
KemperSports runs this city municipal course like a country club with an emphasis on service and conditioning.
