NoCal standout tops Power Rankings for April 18; plus the photo and review of the week

As we head into the second half of April, we're beginning to see a few Northern golf courses creep up the ratings.

But Southern courses and those in year-round climates are still king. Yocha Dehe Golf Club, near Sacramento, is back on top in this edition of Power Rankings. Our 2015 overall no. 1 course continues to deliver five-star after five-star review. Raters are lauding the conditions, the scenery, and even "cart cushions nicer than my house sofa."

The remainder of the top 10 features a few new courses that have never been in the Power Rankings, such as New Mexico's Rockwind Community Links. Also, it's the TPC Scottsdale's lesser-known Champions Course that appears to be delivering great value and exceeding expectations as Arizona winds down its peak spring season.

Review of the week

Top 100 reviewer Richie4326581, from Boston, decided to give the Orlando area's Falcon's Fire Golf Club another chance after a prior experience that left a little to be desired. This time around, he gave the course four stars, and wrote:

Played here 2 years ago and was disappointed with condition. Decided to give it another shot and was happy with that decision. Course was green, lush and nicely groomed. Beverage cart girl was friendly and around frequently. Pro shop was staffed and taking care of business. Falcons Nest to me is fantastic!! Patio overlooking 18th green, cold beer and good service. Course layout is very cool with memorable holes. #13, 14 and 17 are fantastic!! This course was voted top public course in Orlando 2015 and I see why. Won't hesitate to play again.
