2015 was a big year for the state of Washington's golf scene, hosting its first ever U.S. Open at Chambers Bay. It was an epic tournament for both good and bad reasons, but will certainly remembered for a long time to come.
The U.S. Open attracted, by one estimation, more than $140 million in economic development and a 40-percent boost in out-of-state golfers coming to Chambers Bay (which we can assume also played somewhere else during their trip).
Chambers Bay, while now the most high-profile of Washington's public courses, is certainly not typical of other state courses, which are generally more parkland in nature and framed with tall fir and pine trees. The top 15 courses of the year, sorted by golfers' ratings and reviews throughout 2015, showcase the great diversity of golf throughout the state. And many are very affordable. You can click on each course to view more details about what golfers are saying about the experience.
