Tubac Golf Resort & Spa: A movie-worthy Arizona retreat near Tucson

TUBAC, Ariz. -- Built on the historic 1789 Otero Ranch, the Tubac Golf Resort & Spa is one of the most unique golf destinations in the Southwest.

Opened in 1959, this 500-acre property is still a working ranch in the background of 27 holes, a full-service spa and salon, restaurants, luxury accommodations and even a 17th-century replica chapel.

Red Lawrence designed the original golf course, which works around the Santa Cruz River. A new nine holes (eight of which were designed by Ken Kavanaugh) opened in 2006.

The property and surrounding area has been the setting for numerous films, including the golf movie "Tin Cup" starring Kevin Costner. There are a few plaques throughout the golf course that commemorate memorable scenes.
