WAIKOLOA, Hawaii -- There are no ocean views on the Kings' Course at the Waikoloa Beach Resort. Once golfers get over that fact, they can enjoy one of the most affordable rounds of golf along the Kohala Coast.
The Kings' Course, designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, might not have the Pacific in play, but water comes during the round in waves. Ponds pinch the first two par 5s (the second and the fourth), the par-3 seventh and three strong holes on the back nine.
The shortest par 4s, a Weiskopf specialty, are the most memorable moments. Risk-reward tee shots can mean a birdie or double bogey on the 327-yard fifth hole and 332-yard 13th hole.
Overall, the Kings' Course won't blow you away. Rest assured, though, a round rarely disappoints.
