Perfect Day Photo submitted by Zippy0058 on 10/17/2016
Enjoyed it, would recommend.
Played on a cold rainy day. I cut it from 18 to 9 holes. Staff was super friendly at checkin. Even with the rain it wasn’t too soggy. Tee boxes were the only part of the course that wasn’t in good shape. Not bad mind you, just not as well maintained as the fairways and greens. I really enjoyed the stretch from 6-8, 7 is a very cool par 3 and 8 green complex sits in among some beautiful trees. Overall, cool and friendly spot. Will look forward to coming back when I’m next in the area. Hopefully the weather cooperates.
3rd time playing
I paid on golf now and showed up well before my tee time and the guy at the counter didn’t see any information on me or my tee time. He said golf now offered me a deal that was actually unavailable. He was a real d!&k and was mad at golf now, acknowledged it wasn’t my fault but was still a d!$k and hastily sent us off the back nine with no warm up or anything and was telling the starter to and I quote “get em out of here, get em out of here”. Hard to say but I doubt I’ll go back.
Good Layout. Great value.
For the $$$, we found it a very good value. It’s a Pete Dye design, so several holes were very challenging.
Some very pretty holes, especially the ones along the lake. Some good elevation changes.
Greens were healthy. Aeration holes have filled in. Greens are grainy, so down grain they were pretty fast, in ti the grain slower & a bit bumpy.
I’d gladly play it again.
Great public course
Went on a Monday, extremely busy in the mornings to early afternoon, so don’t plan on solo play. The pace was slow, took 3 of us 5 hours to get through due to waiting around most of the day, I’m sure weekends are worse. That being said it was desolate at the clubhouse by 2:30 pm… was my 1st time here and imma tell ya it’s challenging and FUN!! Greens run true and fast even with them being aerated recently. Over all I would recommend this course
Good except the Greens
Greens had just been punched and were really bad.
Most Golf Now courses put an Aerification Alert on their times,…unfortunately, This one didn’t
Staff didn’t tell us about punched greens.
Exactly what the title says. They should have told us before the first tee that greens were punched. I would have saved my money and went somewhere else to play.
AERATION DEBACLE
Not sure who is at fault, but someone needs to post aeration notifications on the website. The course was in the worse I have ever seen it and we play there multiple times a year including past tournaments... better communication may have prevented wasting this day playing "Plinko" on the greens
Nice course, but no aeration warning.
First of all, I love the layout of this course. The hills and water make this course both scary and fun. I do wish some of the fairways were more receptive and the balls wouldn't run off after a good shot down the middle. There are a couple of drivable par 4s and very reachable (in 2) par 5s, even from the tips. On this particular day, there should have been perhaps a discounted rate since the fairways and greens were just aerated. There should've also been a warning online so players could at least know and not be surprised when they show up. I spoke to several others who voiced the same sentiment.
New Carts
Play here a lot. I like the layout and the people. The greens aren’t the best, but they’re pretty good. Some very scenic holes by the water. Pace was very good , 3 hours 45 minutes. Just always a fun day here
Oak Hollow GC
People in the club were rude but that’s normal here. Muddy as can be so it was cart path only
Great course to practice your game if your local and the price is amazing
I will never turn down playing around at Oak Hollow. The golf course is awesome for the price. Plus it has some great views and tough water holes. You’ve got to play smart on the back nine
Save your money
This place ought to be ashamed of themselves. Where do I even begin? After checking in we met the starter coming out of the clubhouse who informed us that they would be doing a shotgun start at 9am on a Saturday. We were there 30mins prior so proceeded to range to hit a few balls where we were interrupted by the ranger that the group that was before us wasn’t there so we needed to make our way to the tee box before we had a chance to finish a little warm up. Once on the course it was obvious this place hasn’t put much effort in over the winter or last year. Now I understand that it’s only late March but the fairways were barren of grass on multiple holes along with no notification prior to book that the whole place, fairways included, had been punched. One of the worst experiences playing golf that I had in quite some time. Save your money and go a couple miles down the road to Jamestown Park Golf course. Beautiful course in excellent condition.
