Great Open Course with some challenges
This is a great course for beginners in the sense that it is very wide open and generally fairly forgiving. The challenge is that it is VERY hilly. Expect a challenge on the back 9. Overall great course. Some of the greens had a few spots in bad shape, but for the most part they were good, fast greens. There was no range, which was disappointing, but understandable as they really utilized all the space for the course. There’s still a small chip and putt green at the first hole. Pro shop was friendly. The food was extremely good at the turn and the staff friendly. Once again great course for the money. Enjoyed it a ton.
Hilly
This course has more ravines, hills, slanted greens and more blind shots than any course I have played in 59 years - including courses on ski slopes and WVa. Saying that it was quite a challenge and thankfully played with a member. If the greens hadn't been aerated I would have given the course a higher rating. Will come back in a month and rate again.
Aeration
Aeration is something that should be put on the Tee Off app. I’ve never seen so much sand on greens. There were a couple that you couldn’t see grass and left footprints in the sand. I made the comment to the rest the foursome “kinda makes me want to take my shoes and socks off”
Beginner friendly. Challenging Downhills and Up
I like this course because I’m used to flat - water everywhere types in Florida. It was nice coming here to minimal water hazards, course elevation (hitting down to a par 3, or up and over a blind hill every once and a while). Some holes were easy, others posed a nice challenge.
The greens rolled very nicely with minimal effort, and overall it was a great time.
Lastly, the course was close enough for me to escape the morning crying of a new born baby, and for that I will forever be grateful.
Interesting layout
The course has several challenging hole which I enjoyed. The fairways grass is coming in nicely however the greens where being sanded the day we played.
Thus the lower rating.
I would like to play this course again.
Fun layout good shape
Stay in the fairways and it’s in great shape. Rough gets thin in some places but not the end of the world. Most of the bentgrass greens were in good shape, a few needed some TLC but that’s what you get when the public play doesn’t know how to repair ballparks.
Overall it was worth the money
This will be in my regular rotation.
The staff in the pro shop and bar were awesome. The course was in good shape.
This is a course where local knowledge is huge. The course us challenging but fair. You need to know which greens you can't miss long. A couple of them can leave you in a bad spot if you're long. I didnt really know my club distances and paid for it on a few holes.
I'll play KMCC again.
A very interesting and enjoyable round of golf. Beautiful views of the area.
Weekend Beware
I have played this course three times. Once during the week and twice on the weekend. When I played on the weekend both times my tee time fell behind the neighborhood members. Just think 5 tee times with foursomes going off one after the other without a starter. Needless to say we watched every shot of the group ahead of us. There were some tee boxes where three different groups waited. It was not a good time. Plus, no courtesy or golf etiquette they rode up on us at several tee boxes blasting their music. This will be my last weekend playing at this course.
First time golfing in Carolina
For the time of year, it was well worth the experience. Way better than the northeast
Only negative we found was the course allowing more than 4 people (assumed members) play together. We witnessed two 5-somes and one 8-some if you can believe it. We were never slowed down though and the 5-some ahead of us let a single play through. Overall play that day was light so this may have been a factor in the courses allowing this.
Amazing views, greens phenomenal
There are a ton of blind shots here so make sure you know where you are aiming and your distances are accurate. Many of the greens are elevated so if you miss it can roll down sometimes 20 yards. Greens are in amazing shape. The views were awesome.
