Great Course! Needs work
We loved this course overall, but were so sad about how BAD the greens were! I mean, worst we have ever seen. Staff was super nice. We will we return and hope to see large improvement in greens conditions.
The course definitely has awesome possibilities and was definitely a secret gem, but please fix those greens!
Playing in a cow pasture
This was by FAR the worst round of golf I’ve ever played. My wife and I got to course 30 mins early they shop staff was a nice guy . He told us to go ahead and tee off which was ok . We got to tee box and a group of 4 men we’re teeing off , one of them a obviously was a beginner he drove the ball I know no more than 30 yards We waited patiently for them to get to the green then followed these guys for two more holes because they wouldn’t let us play through
Then at home at home 4 the course guys were trying to clean around green and wouldn’t let anyone play through, we finally skipped a hole to go around them . Then the golf cart dies on home six
The course was in horrible shape tee boxes bare big bare spots on very green
I lost two sleeves of pro V1 golf balls in the middle of their fairways ! I mean dead center of fairway through 17 holes . Clubhouse had no snack for the turn only Diet Pepsi and cheese crackers
I would definitely not recommend this course to anyone I know or probably not even a person I didn’t
Ghetto course
Dirt bunkers, dirt greens, dirty greens keeper literally urinating right beside the golf carts in full view of customers. Cart died on hole 13 and had to push/walk the rest of the way. Maintenance guys smoking pot and just riding around the course. Pace of play was great as nobody else was coming to play here....ever. You can tell this was a nice course 30 years ago. Days long gone. Take your game and money elsewhere. This course is what voting blue gets you. Vote red and avoid this dump.
Challenging but enjoyable
A challenging course but very enjoyable. The course has a lot of character with narrow fairways, mature trees and an interesting layout. Staff are friendly and it was a good experience.
Worst Golf Experience of My Life
To start, the layout isn’t bad, a relatively short course but most of the holes are pretty straight and uninteresting. A lot of blind tee shots which is a big problem with slow play (more on that in a minute). As for the conditions, the fairways and rough were decent but the fairways were a little overgrown though there had been a lot of rain recently. The greens were extremely slow and several were quite patchy. They advertise them as new but if so they need their money back or the superintendent fired because multiple greens are over half bare. The bunkers were not well kept and pretty firm. Overall conditions were subpar even for a municipal.
The real issue though was the pace of play. I’m not sure anyone that plays here understands the rules of golf etiquette especially how to let someone through. I went out late on a Sunday afternoon as a riding single and waited on every shot, no one even considered letting me through. I was behind an impossibly slow twosome on the front that regardless of me arriving at the tee before they had teed off never acknowledged me or thought about letting me through. I was going to just walk off after 9 but they quit so I thought things would improve. They did for one hole, when I got to 11 there was threesome on the tee that I waited on for every shot until I left after 15. When I say I waited, I’m talking 5 minutes on every tee. I can usually play in under three hours when I’m waking as a single, when I left after the 15th I had been there for over three hours.
I can’t imagine any situation where I’ll return to this course, go play Reynolds Park it’s much better and cheaper.
Challenging but decent experience, disabled friendly
This is a municipal government-operated operated course located in the outskirts of W-S. I’ve played here on and off for two years as a beginner.
Don’t let the scorecard fool you, the relatively low slope rating is deceptive. This is a very challenging golf course with some narrow tree lined fairways, and hilly lies.
The front 9 is brutally difficult if you’re a beginner. There appears to be more room on tee shots than there really is on most of the holes, and if you hit it a little offline you will have to contend with some unpredictable lies and side hill shots. The signature hole of the course is probably #6, which is a tight downhill par 4 with a long approach shot over a creek.
The back 9 (which IMO is much better) is a bit friendlier and more open. 10-14 is a nice stretch of holes, and 18 is a classic straightaway finisher.
The fairways are okay, as are the tee-boxes. Don’t expect the rough to be very maintained, it’s luck of the draw if you hit it there. The greens tend to be pretty slow, though you can get some random fast uphill putts that will keep you engaged.
The course underwent a minor renovation in 2018-2019, with new cart paths. When I first played there the course was a bit burnt out, after the renovations though the greens looked much healthier, and the course seemed slightly more roomy and easier.
The course hosts practices for some delegations of Special Olympics each fall in preparation for the state games, and if you have a disabled child or are yourself, they will often let you play for free. The clubhouse is 9/10 for a municipal course, very nice. The best part of the course is the value, it’s very affordable.
Overall as long as you don’t expect to play a country club level course, you’ll have a solid time here, it’s worth the cost.

Fantastic value with challenging terrain
1st time on this course and I was not disappointed. Friendly professional staff with trim and new-feeling clubhouse. I played the back 9 and the variety of terrain was excellent. Don’t be fooled by the width of the fairways that you see in the videos into thinking that this course is a piece of cake - the cross-fairway slope produces a lot of challenging lies. Like other courses in the Piedmont, there is a lot of up and down with nice vistas of the course. I walked, but the cart paths were recently redone and look great. Fairway condition is what I would expect for late winter, but the Zoysia greens were pristine (and a little slow, which is OK by me). Value was fantastic. Restaurant will re-open at the end of March. All18 holes are in play now as the cart path repaving is done. The course has a dignified, public air - nice place. PS It is not far from Reynolds (general aviation) airport, so there are small airplanes intermittently in the sky - they are mostly single prop planes and they sound more like a lawnmower rather than a jumbo jet, so it is not too distracting - to me, it give the location a bit of charm rather than making it too noisy.

Nice, challenging course. This course is a must-play. It's pretty challenging and quaint. The staff is super friendly too.
Try it. You will not be disappointed
We were looking for a course near Winston-Salem and decided to try this one. I would definitely play it again and recommend. Good pace of play. Greens were excellent!
