Worth the Trip

I drove about 45 minutes to play this course. It was well worth the trip. The greens were extremely soft and rolled fantastic. The pro shop guys were awesome and did everything possible to make sure I had a great experience at their course.

Great Value!

First time playing this course. We really liked the course design with the exception of #8 which is a really bad golf hole. The back nine par 4's are a beast from the back tees! Having a yardage book would improve the experience for any 1st time guest. Conditions were very good and the staff was friendly. It took way too long to get a hot dog at the turn. If it was closer I would probably return on a semi-regular basis.

Bring Your Long Game for this Very Nice Course

Loved playing this course, Challenging and long, even from the white tees. Tree lined fairways come into play. Typical of a 1920's layout which makes it different from most courses in the Columbus area. Greens in great shape and tricky to read, especially for the first time. I will definitely play this course again and recommend it to those who want a great private golf club experience at a public golf course price.

Great course

Course is in excellent condition and I have never played it when it was in poor shape. One of the best maintained courses in the area. One huge comment to Golf Now, the tee time for $20 at 3:04 PM every day for 18 holes and cart needs to be changed ASAP. We almost had to play the front side twice because of their evening leagues and the pro shop informed me that they have contacted Golf Now a number of times to change this tee time to before 2 PM every day so that this does not happen. We were able to play both sides but we had to complete the back in hour and 1/2 otherwise we would have been kicked off the back with the evening league starting. If the course had been busy at all we never would have completed the back in an hour and 1/2. Please change this tee time of 3:04 PM, the daily Hot Deal at Marion CC to a time prior to 2 PM, contacct the pro shop at the course if you need to confirm this. One other positive for this course, it has an orange tee that plays at a length of just over 4,000 yards, ideal for young players especially middle school age.

Tough Course

A beautiful course built in 1920. large and fast greens. Bent grass fairways. It plays all of 6400 yds from the white tees. 5 par 4's over 400 yds and a par 3 that plays 220. I shot 82 and was very happy with that. I played on Saturday afternoon and didnt have any hold up or anyone pushing me. A true private club experience.

Worth the drive

The golf course was in excellent condition, especially the greens. They had a lot of subtle breaks that took a few holes to get used to. A yardage book or course map would be helpful for first time players - there are 2 blind doglegs and it was difficult to judge the distance for the tee shot. The bunkers were "average" at best - could use more sand. Otherwise it was a real enjoyable course and worth the hour drive from Columbus.

schedule problem

We played back nine twice because there was an outing in the front nine. The course knew it and should have not posted T-time at the same time.
We should have given at least 9 hole rain check.

A true gem in a poor town

I've wanted to play here for quite a while but finally got around to playing on a Hot Deal. $20+ GN.com fee.

I used the driving range it was kinda small but several flags to different yardage. Eh, range balls. But its only to warm up.

Course was in tip top shape. Green were unbelievable, so perfect. No divots no ball marks rolled perfect and looked like they belonged on the PGA Tour. Speed was highly consistent.

Fairways were great, felt like carpet and looked great.

The clubhouse is old and is in good shape. At the turn I stopped in the restaurant thinking they would have simple stuff for all members & or players. I was wrong it was a sit down restaurant . No hotdog, or sandwiches. All snacks are in the pro shop and it was only candy bars and simple drinks.

Overall I highly suggest everyone get here to play at least one round. You can't go wrong.

Great greens!

Old-style parkland golf course designed by Willie Parks around 1920. The course was quite wet due to a lot of recent rain; however, it does not appear to drain as well as other courses.. A lot of water in the bunkers. Would not recommend this course unless the weather has been dry for a while. The greens are among the best I've played, sloping back to front for the most part, fast and rolling true. I will play the course again after it dries out.

Best Marion has to offer!

The fact that it has rained most of the summer this course was in very good condition, there are some places you wouldn't want to take a cart but most are not in play. It seems to always be in tip top shape when I play it so if you get the chance I would take it.

Gotta play Marion!

Greens, Fairways and Tee Boxes are Excellent. Love the layout too. Good combination of doglegs with challenges, plus plenty of room for big hitters. TIP: Stay below the hole. Highly recommend getting to Marion to play this previously totally private track. Bunkers had been neglected, but we raked and then hit.
Hope they can improve their ability to have a quick ready made sandwich or hotdogs at the turn. Or some fod options with the beverage cart. Waiting took to long.

GolfNow

I got a great deal on GolfNow. It had been raining for several days prior to my outing so the course was quite flooded. I didn't mind that as it still played pretty well. Even with the rain, the greens were fairly quick. We were the only people on the entire course so it was a great experience in that regards. My only 2 complaints are that we had to walk due to the fact they do not have a completed cart path that runs every hole. Cart path only would have been much easier. 2nd complaint was the snack bar was subpar. It started raining at the turn so we headed to the pro shop for a short break. There were very few choices and the item I did choose was stale. Don't let these factors stop you from playing this course. I don't know who would complain about this course on a dry day.

shot selection a premium at this course but great risk reward course.

Thank you Golf Now. A fantastic course and a challenge for every skill level. Greens run true and par 5's are reachable for big hitters. Great experience.

Traditional Old Course With Callenge

Traditional old course with a great mix of par 4s and excellent par 3s. Plenty of trees that require straight tee shots. The rough is thick and difficult. You need to keep the ball below the hole to score. The greens and bunkers are in excellent shape.

Bring your Laser Range Finder - This course is set up with Reflective Targets both on flagsticks, and the blind dog leg holes #6 and 8. Sand needs help. This is a Private Club and Plays like it - you may never see other golfers and 3:45 is a long 18.
Staff is great.
