still good
Will keep playing as long as it stays in the current condition. Roughs were nice....slight penalty for missing fairway but not brutal. Fairways and greens were very good. Many bunkers were being worked on...which for me is fine...got a free drop as they were not playable...LOL. Overall, a vrey good deal.
Worst course in America possibly
This course is absolutely terrible i have no idea how it is still open its so bad. I hate that i even played the course myself i highly do not recommend this place i was mad just pulling into the “parking lot” or whatever that thing was lol
Front 9 only
The owner was very fair about giving us a rain check for nine holes so the course could be in better shape by May if they can control the nuts hedge on all the front nine greens.
Horrible.
The greens had a lot of weeds. At one point the ball jumped an inch going over the weed. And there was a lot of construction to the apartments on one of the holes. It was bad all around.
Paid for 18, back 9 was closed, fairways were crap, Greens were crap and difficult to put, in my opinion, expensive as the course is in pretty bad shape overall.
Poa Annua Putting
This course is not in good shape at all. The poa annua sprouts all over the greens make putting a complete joke. This course lies in a flood plain, so lots of mud spots after rain. Where the fairways are dry, it’s hard as a rock. The clubhouse staff is professional and nice but there is a young hispanic lady working there that was very rude.
March 2024 - In Bad Shape
Course is in goat track shape right now. But you can tell staff are aware and making efforts to improve.
Staff were great - even spoke to the group in front of us and told them to pick it up. Hopefully we see it turn around in the spring and summer.
Bring boots
The course is super muddy, played there multiple times every time muddier than the time before. The layout is nice, but the greens are rough. Staff is friendly and always willing to help, marshals do their job.
Disappointed
Multitude of blind shots ending up in water that I didn’t know was there. Next time I would know about the water but would choose better quality course and pay more. Staff was friendly but I was not impressed with course. I’ve played winter golf on courses that had way more grass. Course was dry and concrete lik
This course could be REALLY good
I will say that I play almost all of my golf at a local 2-course private club, so I don't expect that level of facility from a public course with rates as low as this. However, with improved greens and bunkers, this course could be really solid. The bunkers are about a 75% / 15% / 10 % combo of weeds / mud / sand, respectively, and the greens, while not terribly slow, were bumpy from a lot of weed infestation. I think maybe 1 of the front 9 greens was at all smooth enough to say I had anything to do with making or missing a putt because of the bumpy weeds all over the rest of them.
Getting the greens relatively smooth and cleaning out the bunkers even a little bit w/ some weed-killer and some decent sand would make this a much nicer course.
There are clean ball washers on every hole, the cart paths (even though I walked, and just played the front 9) seemed to be in decent shape overall, and the tee boxes and most of the fairways were reasonable given the time of year and the amount of rain we've had to deal with in the DFW area.
The pace of play was great too, as I basically blasted my way through all 9 holes without a slowdown from anyone in front of me, and the foursome behind me was even playing fast enough to keep up with me, which is rare at our club. Unless I play multiple balls to essentially pretend I'm a twosome, even when I walk I normally wait on every shot if there's more than a twosome in front of me, even if they've each got their own carts.
Like I said, with the above 2 fixes (which I know aren't necessarily cheap or easy), this could be a really outstanding course and the layout / challenge presented would justify similar rates to Mansfield National and similar local public courses. However, in the current condition, it's barely providing equitable value for the fees it is charging with the greens like they are.
Not worth the SQUEEZE
I have played here twice, once in the summer and once in the fall. The course and fairway have always been in terrible condition. The fairways are practically dirt, and the greens could use a little TLC. For the amount that they normally charge for this course, it’s absolutely not worth it. There are better courses for value of money. If you get this on a discount, then it’s worth spending some of your time. Just don’t upset at the lack of upkeep at this club.
Front 9 only
Had a mid day tee time, got there only to find out they closed the back 9 due to water. I understood, but should have gotten an email or call… offered no discount other than to just play 9 or play 9 twice. Course was a swamp and probably should have been closed.
Seemed like a decent layout, but greens were in tough shape. Hard to judge given weather and time of year.
I should have paid there
Course does not drain well, when showing up they advised that non GN purchases for a round was $20, $16 less than what I paid per person. Course was non playable and extremely muddy. Was not a great experience
Tough course.
But it was a very wet course, so there is that. And even tho the lady told Everyone to stat on the cart path, people did not and they flat tore up the course. Must have been roomie day.
I still dig the course.
Slow pace, nice course to play
The course is nice and the greens were great shape for this time of year. Just wish they would have had some speed up the play.
