Omni La Costa is a course I was very excited to play, having heard great things. I went in with high expectations and unfortunately came out a little disappointed. The course itself is great, nice layout with plenty of well placed bunckers. Unfortunately most of those bunckers were rocky with very little sand. Greens rolled at a nice consistent speed but through the green dead patches of grass everywhere made finding a good lie difficult.

Course had been punched 2 weeks prior , so with that in consideration it still played well, balls tracked fairly well on green. Beautiful course though it’s surrounded on many holes by homes. Many bunkers surround holes and lots of water on back nine. Paid $119 with cart for a course I think is $75, though this is San Diego and everything seems inflated

I paid $60, cheap for a Sunday. It should have tipped me off that something was amiss: like, the course was recently overseeded and cart path rule was in effect. I did not see that on the website; told at check-in. High rough made for a fun day. Love the course; was in great shape; would definitely return.

Really enjoyed the course, and felt I got a great deal. My only beef was nothing on the Golf Now app said anything about a CART PATH ONLY restriction. Only after I paid was I informed of this. I'm in good shape, so it wasn't horrible, but it most-def impacted shot selection and speed of play. Ov er , I enjoyed myself quite a bit.

We were put behind a competition and had a small delay to start , but after that the pace of play was ok and our group got round before sunset , 4 1/2 hr round . The course was in great condition , greens were mid speed not to quick and true . Balls on the range short game area very good to warm up before you play .

Grounds: Very well manicured and inviting.

Facility: Great driving range. Pro shop is well stocked.

Course: Somewhat traditional layout and accessible targets. Some holes did require local knowledge. A GPS would have been helpful.

Overall: A nice course for a weekend trip with buds. The course isn't overwhelmingly difficult so a buddy outing should be okay. I understand the area can get some afternoon breeze so something to consider.

I got a "hot deal" for this course; otherwise it's very expensive. This course really punishes shots that are a little bit off track, sometimes more than what might be fair. The rough doesn't seem very long, but it's very fluffy and it's easy to get too much under the ball, popping it up. At this time of year, they were reseeding Legends, so Champions was the only course open. Some of the greens were a bit soggy and were marked up by ball marks as a results (slow and bumpy), while a few of them were drier, true and would not hold an approach shot. It helped that the people I played with had a little bit of experience on the course. I played the blue tees because that's what they played. If I was playing with my normal partners, I probably would have played white or the combo. The combo does about half and half, taking the sting out of the really long par 4 holes (mainly).

I have golfed several times at this course and always find it both enjoyable and challenging. The reason I did not give the course conditions a fifth star was due to the very pock-marked greens. I don't recall the greens being in this poor of shape when I have played before so maybe it was due to a recent tournament that they had.

This course used to be one of the most sought after places to play in San Diego County. The Legends is now for the public. The other course is now private. The greens were true but very torn up.

The layout and the ambiance at La Costa was great, but the course conditions do not warrant the price charged. Greens were not in great shape, but it was late in the afternoon. Would play again if the greens were in better shape.

Getting to the course was confusing. It's in the middle of a large resort. Follow the signs and let the valet handle everything. Once there, winding stairs and turns will get you down the to right level. The Omni staff was top notch. I was not a guest, only there for the golf.

There are 2 courses, the Champions is more difficult. I played in August and was told the course was not at it's best. The bent grass greens were reseeded. Personally, I think the greens were outstanding. They were readable and rolled true. Fast, but not too fast. Fairway were in very good shape - I guess this is what they call off season? Can't imagine high season.

The layout is exceptional and beautiful. Lots of bunkers, trees and water. Distances seem to play long and I used an extra club most of the time.

this is my new favorite course and I look forward to playing it again when I visit next year.

The golf courses at La Costa won't blow you away, but they're super enjoyable and of the two there, the Champions Course is the best. It's very playable with nice views of the resort and topography, and it won't beat you up by any stretch. In other words, it's a great resort course that has also doubled as a host (part of the course anyway) of professional tour events. The finishing stretch is particularly good including the signature par 3 over water.
