Baraboo Country Club
About
Located just a short drive from Madison, Baraboo Country Club overlooks the rocky bluffs of Devil's Lake State Park. The golf course has a stunning natural setting that is also indicative of the rich history of Baraboo. The course is routed through carefully protected and preserved Indian burial mounds that are more than 1,000 years old. Draper creek ambles through the golf course, connecting Devil's Lake to the Baraboo River. It comes into play on half of the holes. The par-5 eighth is the course's signature. This tricky hole first requires a drive over water to a generous landing area before doglegging left to another landing area that is tightly lined with trees, water, and Indian mounds. Finally there is a blind shot to a sloping green that not only breaks severely from back to front but is also well protected by bunkers.

Nice Course
Course in great shape, greens nice. I really liked the plunger they use to get balls out of hole without touching the flag or the hole, just use your putter to pull up on the lever and your golf ball pops out! Very safe way to deal with Covid virus safety!!
Lots of tees to make course playable for all handicaps.
Challenge for any player
With 6 tee boxes you can pick your level of challenge and skill. Love this course, especially as it forces you to put with finesse.
Great Wisconsin Course
Great Wisconsin course. Beautiful views. Elevation changes. Greens in great shape. Nice bar.
Baraboo
Course was great in terms of layout and overall conditions. Fairways were a little shaggy, but that may have been because of recent rain. Greens were fast and very consistent. Bunkers were great except a few that were flooded. Rating would have been all five star except that our twosome was put behind a ninesome....yes they let 9 guys play together. We had to skip a hole to get around them. Spoke to a very friendly ranger about 4 holes later and he apologized. Overall a great course with friendly people. Would play again especially for the money.
Wayne layer
Course is very beautiful, both of us had fun and will come back again
Baraboo country club
I enjoyed my time golfing at baraboo country club unfortunately I was unable to finish my round due to the severe weather that suddenly haulted my play. I attempted to contact someone concerning a rain check. there's no phone number to speak with on this app...
Sunny and 75
We started the day in a perfect position, sunny, 75+ and some early morning cocktails. This was day three of a buddies golf trip so we made sure to get there earlier than normal to check, grab a drink and roll a few putts. The staff from the pro shop to the bar was really friendly and seemed excited that we were there.
The first hole is unique in that it opens with a par 3, allowing our group a great viewing point to heckle and watch everyone's tee shots. The course is a typical Par 72 with four par 3's and four par 5's but with only one on the front and being the opening hole it is definitely different. The back nine being comprised of three each is different as well and allows for the possibility to card a few birdies coming in.
Layout wise it has a nice variety of holes, not a typical back and fourth parkland course which is great when you close the front with a string of par 4's. There are a few nice changes in elevation most notably the 9th and the 17th. There are other elevation changes throughout the course as well adding to the experience and shot making options. Walking is an option but be aware of what you are getting into, there are also some decent walks for greens to the next teeing ground.
Conditions were great, putting green seemed a tad quicker than the course which we didn't adjust to for a few holes. Playability was great, there were a few spots to lose a ball but overall and if playing a second time you would know to miss a few tee shots. The variety of holes is something that will never tire of on a return trip. I left thinking this would be a really nice course to play regularly in a league or weekend visits.
There was very little we didn't love about the course and our time there. The most glaring item would have been the pollen, understanding that the course cannot control. We caught the area when it was thick and you could see a cloud fall when hitting a tree or a strong gust of wind would blow.
The bar was perfect and they didn't mind the 12 of us almost taking over the area for post round drinks and food. The variety of drinks was also great as we had a few craft beer guys that could indulge with some unique offerings.
This was one of the best days of the trip and what if any the course lacked in comparison to other resort courses in the area greatly made up for in value and enjoyability factors. Will pencil this in whenever in the area going forward.
Nice course and challenging golf
We had perfect weather and its a very nice course for thr intermediate golfer. A few of the low spots were squishy due to the crazy rain the night before. The course was, beautiful and in great shape. Clubhouse and bar were nice and the staff was friendly. A very nice experience.
BooCC Lover
Very interesting holes with some tricky shots to keep it in play. Medium difficulty with some very easy holes interspersed to make for a scoreable course. Plays much harder than it looks. New layout encourages faster play and is easier with fewer hazards on front nine, more on back nine. Playing from the Golds will challenge most golfers I know.
