Opened in 1929, Maplecrest Country Club is one of the oldest golf courses in Kenosha County. It is conveniently located a surprisingly short drive away from Chicago's northern suburbs. This challenging public course has long been a favorite amongst locals both for the playable design and the affordability. The golf course is relatively flat although there are a few subtle contours that can cause some tricky uneven lies. Watered fairways and fast greens protected by bunkers provide the bulk of the course's challenges though it is still quite forgiving if your shots are slightly errant. It is a course that beginners can approach with confidence but it still has plenty to offer for more advanced golfers. One good example is the difficult green on the sixth hole, which stands out as one of the toughest in the area.

Highly Recommended!!
Maplecrest golf course was great and regret not playing it often - until now. The Oro-shop was friendly and ready to serve. Golfers were very open and receptive to joining them or play through to keep up pace. The fairways are wide open but unforgiven if you end up under maple trees and in the rough. looking forward to playing again soon!
Hidden Rose!
Maplecrest is a great course for golfers of all ages - family, friends and individual golfers who just want to play solo or with strangers. Walking the course was refreshing as I get to exercise and time to think through my next shot wherever the ball may lie - quite forgiven as long as you can find your ball. However, don't let the beauty and scenery full you - it can equally rack up your scores.
Golf course closing
A group of us golfed at Maple Crest on 10-11-23 for the very last time. The staff told us yesterday that Sunday 10-15-23 will be their last day of operation. Unfortunately for us that enjoyed golfing there will be no more after Sunday. They informed us that a housing developer HAS bought the property and will destroy the beautiful landscape for the good of corporate greed. It’s the American way… the rich get richer and leave the rest of us in their wake. Goodbye Maple Crest we have surely enjoyed years of fun. Thank you!!
Blah of a course
Greens were patched with dead spots. Fairway and rough didn’t have much difference. They make you turn in your license to ride a cart… weird.
A Mess out there.
No carts. No starter. No direction. Late start. Twosomes refusing to play with other twosomes with the same tee time. “That ain’t gonna happen”. Said they’re regulars when we asked. Twosomes and singles sitting around waiting in front/back of us. Three groups on each hole - unable to hit because players are too close to one another. Four different tines = people jumped holes in front of us. After - staff said those might be members….what does that mean? Other twosome teaching a new player - hitting/shanking 3-4 balls. - to which we skipped #7 after waiting 10 minutes and the two in front still only 100 yards off the tee.
Course unkept. Greens with black bare patches. Lousy condition. No work being done. Sections roped off under repair. Rushed on every hole. Only $30 with a cart.on Golf Now. Yes. Great price, but I’d gladly pay 50 -60 to have an enjoyable time. You get what you pay for. We won’t be pack. My partners couldn’t believe what was going on on the course. At the turn - told staff in the bar - it was a mess out there - they agreed - and said yeah it is - probably - members out there just walking on - doing what they want - not checking in. Again, what does that mean? Members can go out and play any hole - when they want - wherever they want to start - cut in as they wish? And they turn away and allow this? “Just how it is sometimes” A mess indeed.
beautiful day fur golf
fivesomes make it vry hard to be consistent the five group never where ready o play ready golf.!!!!
Historical Value
Maplecrest was definitely a fun course to play. The staff was extremely friendly and I was very happy as a high handicap player. It was my first time at this course, but you could tell that being founded in the 20s it had that old country club characteristic. I think with enough funding and more people coming to the course, they can really build it to a top tier golf course. You could tell by the conditions that grounds maintenance has taken a hit, but that is to be expected given where they currently stand. It did not however detract from the amazing experience I had playing this course, and I would absolutely play here again.
Terrible experience
Booked my tee time and was told $39 for 18 w/cart. When we arrived was told it was $49, I said I was told $39 when I called. The guy then told me "dont try to pull that here" and was basically calling me a liar. After we tee off noticed there was much difference between rough and fairway. Every where seemed to be under repair. The course just isnt well taken care of in any way. The course would actually be very nice if taken care of. Extremely overpriced at $49, there are way better options to play for the money. The course does have a nice layout and would be great if someone took the time to keep it up. Absolutely disappointed to say the least.
