Great course, needs more drinking water on course.
Played many times *
The course is very nice. It is evident that the new management has been pouring lots work into Fred Enke. The staff is friendly and helpful. My only suggestion, management needs to add better drinking water options along the course. I understand money can be tight with public courses, however when the only drinking water is old, out dated drinking fountains, many people are forced to bring their own water. Not to mention, the fountains are placed in direct sunlight and the water is blazing hot. A simple fix is to add 9 or so large water jugs at every other tee box.
I generally bring my own drinks, but having the peace of mind that I don't have to ration my water throughout the course would be greatly appreciated. That Tucson sun is brutal, water is essential when you golf in Southern Arizona.
The ice water in the Club House is nice,
especially as you approach hole 10. Although many players don't like to stop after 9. Having water jugs along the course can be very attractive to those players.
To close, the course is in great shape and I love playing here. Just add some good drinking water along the course.
C’mon Summer!
Great day at Enke,,, as the temps heat up the crowds are backing down. Course conditions are firming up,, greens still receptive to shorter irons but definitely factor some bounce and roll when approaching from distance. Just like it should be!! Played mid-day and got around in right at 3 hours- good times.
PS. Sand traps are baked and hard- I think we have all become accustomed to that around here
Fun Layout
We enjoyed our round. Now housing, just golf course and nature.
Good memories
Met two impressive young dudes who were super talented and fun to chill with. Also had some shenanigans with one of the regular friends that I play with which was good vibes.
Rugged Desert Golf
The title is a compliment. The course is naturally cut in a desert layout, and has lots of challenges. Shots wide of fairways will usually be punishing. Greens were in great shape. Will return on next trip to Tucson.
Congratulations
Fred Inke has received a lot of work over the last few years. I think it’s now best city course by far! 🏌️♂️
Fun Course
We enjoy playing this course especially because it is within close proximity to where we are staying. We are Canadians who come down to the Tuscan area for the weather and golf. We have found we pay reasonable rates at Fred Enke. The only complaint we would submit is after an afternoon round the clubhouse is always closed. Just disappointing when you are looking forward to Hole 19😊
Great layout, pace of play is poor, 5 hours on a Tuesday is too slow, cart paths need some attention, good value though
line up
A two some snuck in front of us as we made the turn. Don't know if they were given permission or not.
Interesting desert course
If you want to play a true desert course, this is a good choice. You will be hitting over desert areas to landing areas of grass. Shot accuracy is important, a wayward ball is a lost ball. I lost many, played a typical course a few days later and lost none.
It's really a wilderness type experience, no houses lining the fairways, just desert wilderness including a bit of wildlife. Enjoy the unique experience and forget about your score.
Course in best shape
Check in was quick. Clothing supply well stocked. Starter friendly. New carts. Pace even on a Saturday afternoon was great. Lots of variety of holes. Multiple tee distances and combination. Something for every one. Will definitely return.
Fun mini course
Played this course yesterday and had a lot of fun . We got paired up with a couple we played with the week before, just out of the blue, and had a blast, they had recommended the course. The course is interesting, no two holes are alike and most are challenging, if you are a lower handicap (8-12) you will probably shoot below your handicap and will definitely enjoy the course. Higher handicappers expect to lose some balls. The staff is friendly except for the starter, he is either shy or just uncomfortable with people he doesn’t know. If you want a fun, somewhat challenging round, give Fred a try, it’s worth it. We liked it enough to return today.
