Disappointing!
This course was recommended as a good public course in the area so we booked a time for two. Range was crowded but in good condition. Joined two local players which were friendly and enjoyable but the round was an agonizing five hour experience. The foursome ahead of us were hitting multiple balls, doing straight shots off the drink cart and playing music that could be heard much of the round. Behind at least a hole or more most of the time. Course marshall came by several times but didn't seem concerned with their pace. Maybe 5 hours rounds are typicial for this course but unexceptable when we strive to keep a 4 hour pace. Agonizing to be waiting on every shot. Fortunately there are much better options for play in the area. Wouldn't ever considler playing this course again.
Course was moderately challenging
Course is moderately challenging and at $64 it was value for the money.
The course should put up fencing around the golf range. Hole number 9 and 10 are very challenging to identify your ball on the fairway and it is very frustrating to slow down play when you know your ball should be in an OK position.
Paradigm Golf Group
Paradigm Golf Group has done a fantastic job maintaining Dobson Ranch GC. Lived in DR for 23 years and rarely used the course. Since PGG started the course loks and plays GREAT... now I play 2 a week. Love the facility and the very friendly staff. Great job City of Mesa for hiring PGG!!
Very odd experience here, and likely will not be returning. Marketing of this place is very young, hip, and inviting (which sold us). While the range may mirror this vibe— the rest of the experience does not. Upon arriving staff was cold, unfriendly, and almost nonexistent. We were on pace of play to the minute, and staff yelled at us for being behind pace and that there was a tournament behind us— and later circled back and acknowledged but did not apologize for the fact that we were in fact on pace— however the people in front of us were playing faster. They seem disjointed, unorganized, and truly not worth the cost associated.
This is a muni course?
Played here for the first time and came away very impressed. Course was in excellent condition. Facilities are likewise top notch. Shade near the practice range, tables and chairs, food truck- just because a municipal course is a municipal course shouldn't mean it's poorly run. Tucson could learn a thing or two!.
Great experience
The course and staff are excellent. The front desk, course ranger, beverage cart and other personnel are friendly and helpful.
Great Course, No Desert, Challenging Greens
This course is always in great shape, brings out every club in the bag and will make you work to score on the greens. I enjoy not having to deal with a desert landscape, there are quite a few trees, and the layout makes it a very walkable course. The sand is better than most Valley courses and the best deal for residents is the Ranch card. I appreciate the break in price for walking the course, very uncommon currently.
Pace of play is kept up better than most courses, they have a starter and ranger. Plenty of water and restrooms on the course. Cart girl is routinely about and the restaurant and snack shack have something for everyone and every text ordering if need something mid round.
Range is mats only but recently improved the ability to tee drives and having monitors are very convenient. I recommend a yellow or colored ball for holes 9 and 10 with the location so close to the range. I don’t think range nets flanking the sides would take away from the ascetics and would help with the abundance of range balls on the fairways those two holes. That’s my only nit pick. Love this place and hope you do too.
Dobson fun
Always a pleasure to play a round here. Great range and friendly atmosphere
The place to be!
With the new range facility and the quality of the course conditions, this was a special day to play.
Nice course
Great first time playing the course after taking lessons here. A little slow following people casually walking the course in front of you. Otherwise, was a good afternoon.
Great risk reward
Fun course and in good shape. Practice facility is very good!
Only complaint is hole 10 is like a combat zone! Put a net up or someone is gonna get hurt from driving range proximity.
My experience was very similar except for multiple balls and music, just slooooooooooooooooow
