#9 at Crosswater Club Photo submitted by StephanGuertlerGA on 02/12/2014
Beautiful
Nothing beats the views at crosswater. One of my all time favorites that just continues to impress. Well done to the maintenance crew!
Best
Best course in central Oregon, if you’re in the area it’s a cant miss. Killer views and fast greens. It earns the name crosswater with all the water hazards
Beautiful
Beautiful course. Hope you can keep it on the fairway!
Best of Central Oregon!
Crosswater is a must play if you are in Central Oregon.. it showcases the deschutes river and my Bachelor. One of my favorites in the Northwest.
Central Oregon Golf at it's Best
Crosswater is the quintessential Central Oregon golf course -- Snow capped mountains, pure bent grass greens, fairways with bluegrass rough and fescues -- all in perfect shape., pine trees, an awesome river running through it... such a perfect setting for a great day of golf we had! There are several forced carries over the Little Deschutes River, so highly recommend you play the "right" tees. Design of the course is great, allowing for some bump and run shots, with large green complexes. a MUST play!!
Crosswater
Crosswater course is fantastic. Very challenging, yet gettible course. Front 9; better warm up at their fantastic facility, because 1,2, and 3 are not impossible to birdie.
Be ready for 4,5, and 6, because a poor shot can immediately lead to a double..
The 8th is over water, the second shot better be crisp, and 9 is lined by a river that at times is magnetized. If you play the proper tees,, it is an exhilarating front 9.
The back 9 is as awesome, 10 is over Oregon gunk, and is similar to the 8th, but a much larger, but split level green. Be ready for 12, it is driver, 3 wood, 3 weed, (i am joking but it is long) and has a pond lining the left hand side of the very narror and the entire 600 yards.
13,14, 15, are gettible, and be ready for 16-18. The 16th is a 3 shot to the green par 5, and the elevated green, that slants all down hill after the false front is like keeping your wedge on a glass table. 17 is a long par 3, and 18 is an over the river par 4. The 18th is very narrow if you want your second to be shorter, and it's over a river to the green. The bunkers are always in great shape, the greens are very fair. If you play the course just prior or just after one of their many tournaments (call prior) the greens are quick, but very smooth. My only negative, is due to the large resort setting, and lots of holes where you need to cross water, and lots of hazard, the pace of play can be very very very slow. That in addition to lots playing the incorrect tees, although the views are epic, the pace of play can be frustrating, for the money spent to play and travel. Otherwise, very friendly staff, great practice area, and the weather is always cooperating.
Great Course
The course was in great shape. Every hole had some unique feature that added to the course appeal. The staff was great. Wish I played better, but even my play didn't detract from the day.
Absolutely Beautiful course !
This course will become your benchmark for comparison once you've played it! Tough but fair, with spectacular scenery and wildlife. Friendly members and great clubhouse for a bite to eat or to have a drink. Highly recommend.
A must play if your up this way.
This is where they hold many tournaments a must play and they have 2 other courses as well that are in great shape at a little lower cost to play.
True beauty and an absolute gem
Amazing experience. The course and scenery are absolutely wonderful - a true Oregon golf experience. All staff from pro shop, beverage service, and starter were super friendly and accommodating. Tees for all skill levels, conditioning of tee boxes, fairways, range, and greens were lush and impeccable. I cannot recommend this course enough, one of the best in the USA you can play. Championship tees 7600+ yards. I will be back anytime I have a chance.
a tough test worthy of the Top 100
i'll start out keeping this simple: PLAY THIS COURSE!
It is worth the money, and it's awesome. It is very tough though! You're gonna want to bring either A) your best game off the tee or B) lots of extra balls. There are forced carries on several holes, tight driving lines, and rough/fescue that will bring you to tears.
The layout is fantastic though! Lots of variety and opportunities to hit all kinds of different shots both off the tee and on approach.
The 5th hole is one of the toughest I can remember playing anywhere, especially given the stiff headwind we were facing. The marshall even wished us luck as we were teeing off.
You are going to work hard during this round, but it's worth it. The views are amazing and the conditions are pristine. Just try to remember to have fun and soak in the scenery while you're searching for another ball in the rough!
One of the Best in Oregon
I finally got my chance to play Crosswater this fall, and despite some odd and terrible weather still left very fond of this course. The setting alone had us feeling alone out in a meadow with views of the mountains. The course itself was gorgeous, fun and immaculately well maintained. Crosswater is fair, but the greens are fast. Fairways and greens are as true as it gets. I LOVE this course. I want to go back every year.
Crosswater - A Real Beauty
For background, we played five courses on our golf trip to Bend (Tetherow, Crosswater, Pronghorn, Brasada Ranch and Widgi Creek). I would recommend all of them, including Crosswater. This course is simply a beautiful layout that was a joy to play. It's a very good test and immaculately maintained from perfectly shaped tee boxes to greens that roll truer than true. The fairways are generous; this is definately a second shot course.
Oregon Gem!
Caught an unbelievable weather day and while the course is long and challenging, it was hard to be frustrated with my own game due to the sheer beauty of the place. Links style, it has hosted multiple PGA of America championships. A gem in central oregon.
The original High Desert masterpiece
This spectacular course basically put Central Oregon on the golf map. The course has hosted many big events icluding a couple of CPCs and a "Shell's Wonderful World of Golf". Crosswater is regularly ranked among the best public-access courses in the country. Bob Cupp created a very challenging course that features water hazards on most of the holes.
