Glen Lakes Municipal Golf Course not only provides a good game of golf but also excellent practice facilities and a learning center that offers free lessons. The course features several lengthy par 3s and par 4s. It is beginner friendly but it also offers plenty of challenge to the experienced golfer. Water comes into play on nine holes and the rolling terrain creates tricky uneven lies. There are also strategically placed bunkers protecting the greens to watch out for. Glen Lakes Municipal Golf Course boasts outstanding practice facilities including a lighted driving range that stays open late and in the summer there are misting systems to keep golfers cool.

Ok
We got what we paid for not at all disappointed. Simple coarse warm up lfor weekend.
Nice staff , beautiful weather all good. Would we go back probably not , far from home .
Great Place,!!
Glen lakes is in the best shape it's been in in years!! It's a unique 9 home golf course, as it has three par 3's and six par 4's. Great course for the money!!!
Greatly improved course!
The new management has invested well in this course bringing out it's great features. What was once a "gravel pit" is now a nice fairway with well maintained greens. Sadly the city of Glendale who have ignored this gem now want to turn it into houses. The course is finally living up to its potential after years of neglect and now the city counsel wants to pull the rug out. We are already too densely developed. Glen Lakes is a rare gem that is finally on the right path. Go and try for yourself. You won't be disappointed. Great executive course with challenging holes.
Course best I've seen it in 10 years
2 things to comment on:
1. The course is in the best condition I''ve seen it in years. Cudos to the management and grounds keepers.
2. After 45 years of playing golf, I had my first hole in one today. Hole 3, 188 yards, 8 iron. Witnessed by a pro. Yea!
Impressed with changes
The course used to be run down, bare patches everywhere, carts run down, nets run down, etc.
Seems they are making improvements as the course is now mostly green, with actual rough vs fairways. Greens are cut nicely. Tee boxes are consistent and even. Golf cartrs are brand new and work great.
Certainly a step in the right direction for this course!
Definitely getting better.
My wife and I were regular patrons and seasonal members back during the Bellows Golf/Sam Francis years. We were 2007 Couples league champions and my wife was ladies league champion for 2 years straight.
It had a family like vibe to it and we both loved the Happy hours at the driving range every Thursday. The happy hours were very successful with nearly every mat filled and lots of people They would have discounted pitchers of beer, food and periodic contests on the range and putting greens during these happy hours, giving away hats, shirts, range balls and rounds of golf
When Thom Pearson took the course over, it all went down hill, the rough was rarely mowed, the greens were in lousy condition, the couples league left to another course and the ladies league eventually folded. Happy hours became just a discounted range ball day the snackbar/club house went under and we quit playing there. I left a very unfavorable review a couple years ago regarding this, so I wont mention it any further here.
We played 18 holes a couple weekends ago and were very happy with the condition of the course. I swear the greens have never been this good before! The rough was mowed just right and the fairways are looking much better than the run down mess it had become.
The clubhouse is still not open and they had little in the way of supplies available in the pro shop, I needed to buy a new glove but they only had a handful of women's gloves available, no mens gloves. However, I'm sure that will all change soon. The new management was smart to focus on the course and golf first, amenities later That's a fatal error that Thom made when he started bringing in cigars and wine, but neglected the league/club play and course conditions. Although I don't see anything regarding league/club play yet, they do offer lessons still and seem to be working on putting everything right at this course.
I can't wait to see how it develops over the next several months. We miss the friendly family like environment and the fun nights on Thursdays but it looks like they are on the right track now.
Nice for the Money
This course keeps getting better every time I play it!
Getting Better
The course has been getting better and better since the new management took over. The greens have been punched recently and are pretty slow, but they'll get better!!
A Hidden Gem!
This is a great executive course to practice your course management skills. I thoroughly enjoyed the round. It's a little ways from Chandler, but worth the drive.
Convenient Course
New operators are trying to bring back life to the course...
Good value
New management is making an effort to bring out the goodness of this course. For a nine hole course it allows the player to use all the clubs in the bag. Great place to work out your game. I wish the new management great success in nurturing this gem
poor condition
Greens were ok. Tee boxes were ok. Could not tell the difference between the Fairways and rough. Traps were full of weeds. Weeds every where except greens. Lots of leaves and small twigs all over fairways and rough. Lots of bare spots all over. If you do not mind these conditions it is a good round of golf. I am not very good but enjoy getting out and playing. Palo Verde and Encanto short nine put this course to shame.
Very good Exec course.
Have played here several times. Always a good value. No crowds. Love the layout....more par 4's than most Executive courses.
Unkept
This course is poorly kept. There is little difference between the rough and the fairway. The sand traps are overgrown with grass so that you cannot see any sand. The grass on the green is uneven such that the bumps can redirect your ball. The pace of this nine whole course is around 90 minutes.
Good Value
The course is under new management and they are taking improvements very seriously. The course layout is a rare gem for a 9 hole executive course. It has a nice mix of par 3's, 4's and 5's. Although the course is a bit rough it is showing signs of improvement. I like this course because it is a quick way to work out a few swing issues for your game.
Great 9-hole executive course.
Plenty of par 4s to use your driver. Average condition; great price; never crowded.
