Toka Sticks Golf Club
About
Unlike many other courses in Phoenix, the course at the Toka Sticks Golf Club was not done in a traditional desert-style. It is known amongst locals for having very fast greens, many of which are elevated. The old Toka Sticks course was originally a nine-hole course built in 1945 but in addition to making it an 18-hole, championship course, it has had many renovations in the years since to make it a more challenging and interesting course. There are stately trees present on the course call for straight shots in order to reach the narrow fairways. Two lakes are situated on the course that create water hazards that come into play on sever holes. There are also several well-placed sand bunkers throughout. Toka Stick Golf Club also offers a short game area, a putting green and a driving range.

course in good shape
Play was slow, took 4 hours and 20 minutes but that is pretty typical for winter resort golf. Played with 2 nice guys, Mark and Carlos. It was cool but still would have enjoyed a draft at the turn. Snack bar was closed before we started at 11, and also at the turn. Minor inconvenience
Will not play here for another 4 or more years
The staff talks about all the changes that are coming. But I don't think I will see any changes in my lifetime. I don't know about any of the other sand traps, but the one I played out of left a 6" circle of clay showing from under my ball.
Played slow, no Rangers, also a lot of greens turning Brown not worth 74 dollars
Solid Track
This was day 4 of a 4 day golf holiday and frankly we were pleasantly surprised. I haven't player Toka in over a year but the fairways were immaculate the greens pristine and the overall pace of play was great. Definitely a great deal for the price
Love this course
Love that it’s walkable. Out at 7am and done at 10am.
Improving quickly
I'm a regular at Toka Sticks and they are continuing to make great improvement to the course. The fairways and greens and in really good condition. They have really cleaned up the course and continue to invest money into improvements. The staff are extremely friendly and we saw the beverage cart at least 6-8 times during our round. Although the course is wide open don't get fooled by the greens. The can be challenging to hold.
Hoffmeyer
Fair course if you are looking for a course that is not difficult.
Needs improvement
Uneven tee boxes, inconsistent fairway conditions, greens were fine but holes placed on side slopes and around the cup were raised edges where holes were punched. Upon checking in cashier took body spray and sprayed it all around her before interacting with me. Real weird. Starter was rude and had an attitude. Not a pleasant experience
Great Track for the Price
This is an everyday muni course, but the conditions are better than most the other courses in this price point. The bagel sandwich was fire. Pace of play was great. This might be my new go-to course for a cheap round.
First time
Looking for a reasonably priced course in the Phoenix area in March is very difficult. I found this course on GolfNow and thought we would give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The guy we played with was a regular and he told us that the new management has done a wonderful job over the last year improving the course.
Rental clubs
We played Toka Sticks twice and rented clubs both times. The course was in great condition. We really liked that there are no bare ground areas.
For the first game I found the 3wood head was broken off when I pulled it out on the #1fairway. I called in twice to get a replacement but never received one. The second round neither set had a nine iron. Lesson: always check rentals thoroughly before heading out. The course did not offer any concession off the really high per-set rental rate.
