Cave Creek Golf Course
About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

The greens were ok, fairways fair, cart paths were goat trails, & carts were ancient.. Wouldn't pay even half of the $42 I paid for the round at this course.
BUMPY
The gas power carts were ok to navigate the hilly often bumpy path sometimes dirt sometimes broken pavement, sometimes gravel. The greens were okay however there was a lot of puddles that resulted in muddy balls in and around the greens. The forward tees were just over 5600 yards which was a bit long for my wife. No shorter options were displayed or available. The fairways were undulating to say the least with your ball often at the bottom of depression or on a side hill. I liked the layout of the course but it could use some smoothing out!
First and last
Course condition poor rough tee boxes greens to difficult to put on too much endulation
Waiting almost all holes 2-3 foursomes on all par 3s

I was ripped off for the tune of almost $90 what a rip off
Cave creek goat track

Greens were impossible to play no fun too much endulation tee boxes horrible chewed up
Fairways only ocerseeded barely any grass on them
Slow play almost 4.5 hrs 2-3 foursomes on some par 3s
Refused to refimf anything after I told proshop they could care less
I will tell everyone I know not to play here I will never return
Worst condition of all courses this year I've played
Pd almost $90 for a course that is in horrible condition dried out only overseeded fairways barely grass there
Ridiculous greens too much endulation, made it no fun impossible greens
Tee boxes horrible shape beat up few blind holes with no markers to indicate direction to green
I was ripped off big time
Holes had 2-3 foursomes waiting took almost 4 hrs 45 min to play
I asked the proshop for a refund based on all info I just mentioned they refused saying they do not refund have a nice day
I will never return and tell everyone I know not to play here
Not bad for a muni course
The condition of the course was not too bad. The greens were in pretty good shape. I enjoyed playing there.
Played it 100's of times in my 40 years in AZ
This course just keeps getting better over the years. Picked up playing it recently again and really enjoyable. Hard to get tee times early on weekends, so sometimes I just play the back nine. Real fun. Best value in town.
Good Experience
The course conditions were very good. The greens rolled great. The pace of play was decent. This time of year that’s a plus. Overall I would recommend this course.
Course did not match description
If this was the best of Phoenix public courses with 61,000 tee times in a year, remind me to not play any of the other courses. The course had gas golf carts and did not even include tees to play with. There were no paved golf cart paths and it was difficult to follow the ruts in the road that were full of rocks and felt like I was off roading in a 4WD. We had a Hot Deal at 2:40 and could have finished 18 holes, but we were so disgusted by the course that we quit after 9. If there are 61,000 rounds played at $50-$80/round, that’s $3M - almost $5M that comes into the course each year. Not sure what the money is being spent on, but it has not been on course improvements. We will never golf here again.
Fore
Good times. Course was in good shape and pace of play was quick. Good job. Will be back for sure.
Affordable city course
A great value in February. Course was in good condition, reasonably priced
Great Muni
A great day for golf. Paired with tow awesome gentlemen who were regulars here. No bells and whistles just a solid course with some tricky greens. If you want pretty flowers, electric carts and paved paths don’t play here. If you want a good test of golf on a solid municipal course, give it a chance. Pace of play seems to be 4.5+ so be prepared for that. Would play again.
First round
Great service, got to move up my tee time as I was a single.
Good pace of play
Great partners to play with
