Shalimar Golf Club
About
Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

Great for the buck
With so many courses in the Phoenix area, fbis course stands out because of the awesome layout and smoking hot prices. Great. For beggining golfers who enjoy a challenge as well as a savvy enthusist who is touching up the game.
No organization
Arrived for my 945 tee time to a dozen people waiting to tee of because they allowed walk ons to just “go on when you’re ready” instead of having the walk ons wait for people that actually have reserved tee times that are already paid for. Didn’t even get around to playing knowing I wouldn’t have teed off until at least 45 minutes past my reserved tee time
Poor conditions
This course is in very rough shape! It’s cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. I rented right handed clubs as I was in town for work, and used my driver and when I got up to my ball noticed that all the irons and putter were left handed. I was not given a refund for having to play the round with borrowed clubs to avoid returning to the clubhouse and disrupting pace of play. Seems like the drunk locals enjoy it but I wouldn’t recommend to anyone else.
9 hole
Fun inexpensive 9 hole course. You can rent Golf carts, bag carts and walk it.
Wow! We are so happy you enjoyed your round! We look forward to seeing you again soon at Shalimar Golf Club.
First and last
Course is for sale and it shows it. Totally neglected. To bad.
We apologize for the condition of the course. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
Management is letting course go bad.
Grass in poor condition. Ball washers empty of water and even handles missing. Tee box condition very bad.
This used to be a nice 9 hole course.
We sincerely apologize for the condition of the course and are actively working to address these issues. Thank you for bringing them to our attention and giving us the opportunity to improve.
$75 for 2 players - Not Really Worth the Price
I don't mind paying $75 for a 9 hole round of golf for two, but this course needs a lot of work and is NOT worth the price we paid. The course needs to be better maintained, especially the bunkers (they didn't have sand in them but they had rakes?). The fairways were littered with practice balls from the driving range or balls that players couldn't find. The putting greens need to be improved also. I also didn't understand why they needed to hold on to your drivers license to rent the cart... really? If they don't spend some money and improve this course, I can see why it may be closed down next year!
We apologize for not meeting your expectations and appreciate your feedback on course maintenance and procedures. Your input is crucial for us to improve and provide a better experience in the future.
Great little course
We had fun playing at Shalimar. Great stafff. The course looks like it was once quite spectacular. Perhaps it needs a little attention now, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves😊
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Shalimar Golf Club.
Course Conditions
I don't believe this course is being taken care of al all. It looks as if there is very little investment in what I was told was a very fine course at one time. Disappointed in the condition of the course.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Shalimar Golf Club, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Fun course but the pace was extremely slow
We’ve played there a few times this winter and love the course. Yesterday our tee time was 12:30 but it we didn’t tee off until 1:30 because the course was so backed up and we had to wait for carts. We knew the group in front of us were all very new golfers but even new golfers should know the basics of golf etiquette. Sadly, they did not. We waited about 20 minutes to take our second shot before we called the clubhouse to ask for someone to come and move them along. We waited a bit more and then picked up our balls and played through them. There were two clear holes ahead of them. It took almost 3 hours for nine holes, crazy!
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Shalimar Golf Club.
Challenging Greens - Meet some new friends
With the postage stamp and fast greens, this course is a challenge. Hard to stick a ball, so bump and run.
It helped immensely that I was paired up with 3 other regulars, Dale, Rob and Erik, that not only knew the course but were super friendly. Joe, who was with the other 4-some, set the tone by inviting me to play with them. Although a bit of a hike from my home, want to go back. Too bad that it is being sold and will probably become a housing development.
Hello, thank you for visiting us at Shalimar Golf Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
We apologize for the mix-up with the clubs and the condition of our course. Thank you for your feedback; we will work on improving our services.
