Washoe Golf Course
About
Founded in 1917, Washoe Golf Course is the oldest golfing facility in Reno. The layout has small greens and tree-lined fairways, but the fairways are wide and flat making them fairly forgiving. There are water hazards and bunkers strategically placed throughout. The mature landscape is carefully maintained with an elaborate sprinkler system that ensures that the course is green and ready for play all year round. Washoe Golf Course also has PGA Professionals on staff to help with individual or group instruction and extensive practice facilities that include a generous putting green, driving range, and a chipping area with practice bunker.

Kick back Reno
Very nice playable Muni. Very close to peppermill. Very small greens which places premium accuracy on approach shots. Very walkable course if feeling like exercise
yesterdays afternoon pace
Overall, the round was fine after getting in front of the groups ahead of us for the back nine. In the front, one group had 5 players playing, which we know is incorrect. Then, a massive group of 9 people “trying” to play, being mulligans, and holding up everyone behind. I’m all for people learning how to play and having fun but you have to be considerate and show golf etiquette. Going forward, washoe GC needs to regulate groups more accurately and speed pace of play.
Nice course
Course is challenging and fun. I’m glad I got a power cart, as there are some hills. Fairways were pretty wide which I like. Some of the greens were a little rough, but it looks like they might have recently aerated the greens. Lots of sand traps too! This was the first time I played here as I was visiting from out of town. I will play it again next time I come to Reno.
Value for the money!
Great course for the money. Green compared to other courses at this time of the year. Good flow and nice staff. Perfect.
WGC
I really liked the fairways because they were nice and green, please keep them this way, don't let them get away from you. The greens were very fast and were air-rated. once they grow back in I'm hoping they are really nice. We would like to see just a few ball washers out there if possible. Don't know if this is covid related that there are none. See ya soon.
Classic Washoe
Still a lot of fun. Greens are going to need a little more help but it’s still early in the season.
Very Nice Day
Course was in relatively good shape considering it's just recovering from winter. The freshly punched green didn't help my putting, however.
Washoe Golf. Course
The course is not in good shape even for winter golf. Greens are inconsistent and the fairways are average. Doesn’t appear to be much maintenance happening.
Unfortunately there was a disc golf tournament happening at the same time as golfing was going on on this particular Sunday afternoon. This caused a few verbal confrontations between the golfers in our group and the frisbee players. Staff was friendly.
Out of town golfer
Course is only a mile from the Peppermill Casino Resort that we where staying at. So a 5 minute drive.
Played this course in middle of March so the trees where bare of leaves which makes the course seem wider then usual.
There is a disc golf course interwoven with the golf course and the disc golfers will walk into your field of view when teeing off on a few holes so beware.
Driving range only allows a 250 yard hit at max distance so be aware of that as well.
If you hit onto the gravel golf cart path take relief..
No need to ruin a club!
Bunkers are playable which is not bad for a public course of this size.
#10 tee box is along the parking lot and the netting is a little low and open for my liking with cars parked there.
So if you go right be aware of that.
Club house has a good sports bar atmosphere for a public course.
Pro shop to check in is below the club house and the entrance is down some stairs. So if it's your first time you could get lost.
Look for where all the golf carts are parked by the putting green and you will find the Pro Shop.
Like the Pro said when I mentioned it was a hidden entrance he said " it's always easier to find the second time". I bet he must say that alot.
Rates are reasonable this course and staff is professional and friendly.
