Gotta play this course if in Kauai
Ocean holes are awesome. Great course, you will be challenged and enjoy the views. Bring a camera. Stop by the Marriott on the beach and have a beer afterwards.
Avoid this week
Course aerated and sanded the greens. Avoid until this process is done. Even with discount not worth playing as course in terrible shape. Understandable they need to do proper maintenance but they should be closed. For the cost really poor form they are letting folks play.
Broad fairways, very quick greens and pace of play, sensational Panorama
The panorama on the back 9 is amazing! Fairways could be under better conditions but greens are top and very quick. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, I would definitely recommend to play this course!
Yikes
Course was aerated and greens sanded
Terrible conditions course should have been closed
If looking to play this week in April 8th Do NOT!
Awesome day of golf
A bit breezy on back 9. Very scenic, greens rolling true, a few tough par 3. Front 9 a few blind shot holes. Great experience
Over priced
Driving range is below average, no grass and no stand for clubs. Front nine is in poor condition and the layout is very boring. If all the holes were like 14-18, it would be worth the $ and live up to the hype. For a fee of $200+, there are better options.
Great course in Lihue
Great course in Lihue, right by the airport (you can watch planes takeoff/land on a couple of holes).
The front 9 is a decent layout through mostly open areas. A couple of highlight holes, namely 5, 6 & 8.
The back 9 is on a whole other level. Much more interesting layout, with several beautiful yet challenging holes that tempt you with hero shots but can quickly punish you (thanks Jack!). The ocean views here rival any of the best courses in Hawaii.
Overall it was a great golfing experience. Shout-out to all the friendly staff. The starter (Ricky) was a true highlight -- Go Niners!
First Time visiting from Massachusetts
I visited the Big Island the prior week and played three rounds of golf on that island including one round at Mauna Kea. This was the only round played in Kauai and it did not disappoint. It was the most expensive round of golf of the four but the views on holes 13-16 made it worth the price. Staff were very friendly. Course conditions were excellent and the greens were in fantastic condition and rolled true and fast (similar to Mauna Kea). Played below my handicap for the day and was appreciative of the GPS on the carts. Some of the layout is blind so having the GPS was great. There was wind off the ocean that came into play on most of the holes. Course management was important, especially on holes 16 tee shot (lay up) and on 18 (lay up before the lake) and got on in 3 and was happy with a bogey result. After the round the cart attendant gave me a ride back to the Marriott resort we stayed at adjacent to the course. Must play course on this island.
Expensive but a wonderful challenging course
I am 82 with a 9 handicap and play tees set for 52-5400 yards.based on how far I hit my average driver - 190 yds and average 5 iron. - 150 yds. I believe the average golfer playing 6000 yds or more will have their hands full! Take a lot of balls. I shot an 81 and it has been 3 years since I last played this course. It is in the best condition. Greens are very fast if you are putting with the grain. Winds were up 20 -30 mph which is 2-3 more club going against it. But I sure enjoyed a couple of 250-270 drives too.
Have fun out there! Playing from the correct tee box is not taught. Check the internet until you have found the metric for the Driver and 5 iron chart. It will make your game more fun and that is what is all about!
