Oak Harbor Golf Club
About
Situated just 25 minutes outside of New Orleans, Oak Harbor Golf Club is one of the area's most popular courses. The course is a challenging test without being too intimidating for beginners. It offers risk-reward holes that will appeal to low and high handicappers alike. Lee Schmidt, who worked closely with Pete Dye, designed the golf course, and incorporated many of Dye's signature features into the design. Sculpted mounding and native grasses frame the generous landing areas and you'll even find Dye's trademark railroad ties framing the greens. There are also several lakes that come into play throughout. Oak Harbor Golf Club's seventh and 15th holes are particularly notable for their intimidating tee shots over water. If you strategize carefully, the four par 5s provide some birdie opportunities but you'll have to carefully navigate through a combination of water, traps, and undulations.

Starter and staffs were nice, condition is good. Some holes are still in renovations. Got rain out and after it clear, the course was still pretty dry. Greens were good
Course conditions
Even with the drainage maintenance going on, the overall condition of the course was excellent!!
Needs work
The tee boxes are mostly sand and clumps of grass. Fairways on the front are hard with little grass.
Greens are average.
Nice course for the Money
I was able to book a tee time on Wednesday for Thursday play. The course was well maintained, the greens were fast and in good condition. There were some areas that had some construction going on that looked to be for drainage, did not impact play, took it as another hazard. I recommend giving the course a go and if I’m back in the area I’ll definitely be playing.
Could be Great
They need to finish the work on the sink holes in the fairways. The course could be very good because it’s challenging and the greens are in good shape.
Tee boxes need work
The greens were in great shape but The fairways and tee boxes were not good.. uneven and a lot of bare spots,
Holes 1and 2 have been under repair for over a month. The first hole has a large deep hole with water in it about 15 yards in front of the green. Lost one ball in that one. The second hole has a deep ditch about 20 yards wide right in the middle of the fairway. I’ve lost two balls in that hole. Other than that, the course is a good deal.
Great greens, rough tee boxes
Check in straightforward, range balls are very old. The range is large with many hitting stations. The hitting stations are rough, they need to be filled and repositioned more frequently. Chipping and putting areas are both real nice. The practice bunker is very rough and basically not useable.
The course layout can be very challenging based on tee box selection and winds. Not a walking friendly course though. Lots of water to negotiate on course. Three of four par 3’s have carries over water - if you take the pin on. Some form of water comes in play on nearly every hole All the greens are maintained nicely.
Tee boxes are very rough! Some are so bad you’re looking to place your tee where footing is stable versus picking a shot shape. Course has obvious drainage issues and the maintenance staff is working to fix them. Bumpy Terrain on Hard packed areas that follow water drainage and cart traffic short cuts. Use caution when Driving across fairways lots of deep potholes, many are labeled but not all. Nearly every green side bunker has wet or packed sand.
No bev cart service, 19th hole lacking.
The review may read gloom but the course is really nice to play, staff is great don’t let this review deter you from playing this course.

Nice and friendly staff , senior group play too slow
Don’t let fast players go through.
