About

Holes 18
Type Public/Municipal
Style Links/Executive
Par 65
Length 5048 yards
Slope 110
Rating 62.6

The 18-hole, executive length Homestead Golf Course in Lakewood is really more like a short championship course. The course has a yardage of 5,048 and plays to a par of 65. Denis Griffith designed the links-style course that offers some surprising challenges considering its length. The course features dramatic elevation changes as well as water hazards. The front nine holes and the back nine holes also differ in landscape to offer a truly unique experience. Homestead Golf Course's front nine has beautiful views of Denver as well as lovely streams and lakes. The back nine has rolling hills and it is abundant with wildlife.

DO NOT PLAY HOMESTEAD OR FOX HOLLOW

1) There are way better courses in the Denver area for the price of Homestead and Fox Hollow (even in the part of Denver where Homestead/Fox Hollow are located - i.e. the Links, Broken Tee, etc.)
2) The best way I can describe the course is it's a long executive course? (I think it's a par 65? You could play all 18 with a 5-iron, wedge, and putter) The only challenge and defense the course offers are fairly drastic elevation changes, and in a lot of places the rough is unnecessarily long - like "you have to step on your ball to find it" type long. And let's be honest - scratch golfers are not playing this course, and we weekend golfers all lose shots to the right and left. And there''s no reason to not be able to find your ball ~10 yards from the fairway.
3) I find the cart girls to be extremely rude. If you bring you own beer (which is illegal but most people do anyway) they will eventually take your beer because you are not buying it from them - not because it's illegal.

So in summary, find a different course than Homestead or Fox Hollow. Not worth the price and rude staff. I've had multiple bad experiences at these courses,

Maniac Marshall

Teeing off on #1 I ended up going right which is what usually happens. I went over to my ball and hit it back to the fairway. Next thing I know this marshall comes after me yelling and hauling butt down the cart path trying to pull me over like some traffic cop. Apparently I had driven into a 'no cart' area. Really? That was the reason for all the ranting and raving? I tried to explain that I thought I was well past the 'no cart' zone. That wasnt good enough for him he just kept yelling at me in front of my buddies. This guy needs to be reigned in. Didnt get his name but he was in the red cart with the red flag on 6/24/2020 between 630 and 1030 am. Other than that Pro Shop excellent, Course beautiful,
Marshall sub par, not the right attitude for the job.

Beautiful location, something different

Beautiful setting and design, with rolling hills on many holes and the mountains as a backdrop. I've played it twice, and it was in great shape both times. Pace was pretty slow both times, maybe because it's a shorter course that appeals to an older (and slower) crowd.

As others have noted, even though it's a short course, I would not call it easy. Many of the par 3s in particular are long and tricky. Overall, I definitely recommend Homestead.

Best views of any course in Denver

Homestead is an executive course, but don't be fooled that it is easy. I'm an 8 handicap and and its still challenging especially if the wind picks up. Great views and condition, and facilities are pretty solid as well. I don't want to make the course harder for me to get on, but I think you'll be surprised at how nice this course is if you play there.
