Played the Blacks (6666/72.9/135) with GDR23. POP was 3H, 30M in sunny, muggy conditions with a 1 club breeze most of the round.

Really enjoy this course. Holes 13-17 are about as good a consecutive 5 hole stretch as you will find anywhere. Typical Pete Dye design with some raised greens, numerous mounds and massive waste bunkers. However, unlike Stadium, this course is fun to play and doesn't continually beat you up.

The tees were mostly lush and well maintained. A few had been recently vericutt. Only some par 3's had a decent amount of divot damage.

The fairways were mostly lush. A couple had been vericutt and only sporadic places with severe divots.

The rough was lush but not too tall. It would grab your club but you could easily find you ball.

The plentiful sand traps were well maintained. An odd thing is that the cart path runs the entire length of several waste bunkers. therefore, you may well be playing off tire tracks if you hit into them.

The Bermuda greens putted medium speed and were somewhat bumpy. Firm with few ball marks.

Overall, this is a challenging layout and the conditions were very good except for the greens, which were mediocre. The customer service was very good. Cart gal around numerous times. Definitely recommended, this is a fun layout and one of my favorite courses to play.

the greens of this course were terrible. They are by far the worst greens we have played in the Palm Springs area. About 4 greens were completely brown and burnt out.Terrible. Also noone tells you about the major construction going on that affects two holes. It was a very nice course in very poor condition

Played this course on Friday, September 8, 2017. Was looking forward to it after reading some of the reviews of the course. While on the practice green, our group noticed the greens were extremely slow and bushy, nothing was rolling and when you did hit it harder, the ball really wouldn't roll but rather come to an abrupt stop. The fairways were in terrible condition as well, with grooves and gaps from their aeration of the course we were assuming. There was no mention of the greens nor the fairways being aerated and no "advisory notices" on the GolfNow website.

The greens were the real issue, super slow and very fury so the ball would never really roll. You could hit a bump and run and all you got was the bump. I wish the course would have informed the players of the condition of the course and we all could have saved some aggravation.

We played Desert Willow-Firecliff and the Marriott Shadow Ridge course the following days and needless to say, those courses made up for any lack of confidence we might have had for golf courses in the desert!

Thank you for your comments on The Mountain Course at La Quinta Resort & Club. We appreciate the time and effort that you put into your review - any feedback we receive from our guests is invaluable in our quest for continuous improvement. At the time you played, the course had just come out of an aerification and it generally takes ten days for the course to recover. However, the greens took longer to recover because of the extreme heat and humidity we experienced this summer. Aggressive summer agronomic practices are necessary to help promote healthy turf conditions - and it is not an exact science. The other courses in the valley perform aerification at various times during the summer so all courses are not in the same condition at the same time. The construction you encountered next to the course was due to a drainage basin that had to be installed because of flooding into the houses next to the course. We feel badly that you did not enjoy your round - that is not the way we want anyone to leave after playing our course(s). Please contact our Clubhouse Manager, Alan Bonin at 760-564-5712 - we would like to invite you back to play under better circumstances.

This is a excellent layout since it has a variety of memorable holes. The layout was quite challenging from the back tees so choose carefully where you play from. There a many water holes and a lot of strategically placed bunkers. I played in 2.5 hours starting around 230pm. The tees, fairways and greens were in very good shape for this time of year compared to other courses. The pro shop is well stocked and the staff very nice. Definitely a good choice!

Good track , convienant to stay at the La Quinta resort. Not much shade to hide from the sun in morning - mid afternoon. Early morning tee times will have your driving shots directly into the sun - keep it straight ! Late afternoon tee time best to enjoy the setting sun behind the beautiful mountain range that envelopes the course , and cheaper rate. Prime time tee times are $10-25 more than the Norman course ( at time of this post ) which is only a 7 minute drive from resort. And in my opinion a greener , more challenging track with more shade near tees and greens too! Yes I know it's the desert , but a little shade goes a long way. Enjoy

We had heard a lot of good things about this course, especially the back 9, and they were all true. The front 9 is challenging and similar to the Dunes course which we had played before. The back 9 is amongst the mountains and has lots of challenge including areas that I can only describe as lunar.

It has spectacular views and well worth playing but make sure you hit straight!

Dropped full rate and had no water on the course and no cart girls on the front nine. They also watered the fairways while we were there, made for a sloppy round. One of least favourite rounds in the Palm Springs area that we played. The last 4 holes on the course were almost worth playing the first 14.
