White Heron Golf Club
About
White Heron Golf Club (formerly known as Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club) has had many accolades over its history and for good reason. The Ted McAnlis layout is sculptured from lush rolling land and features immaculate playing conditions year round. Water and natural wetlands come into play on 16 of our 18 holes and the resident breeze can significantly change the course from day to day. Yet despite the natural beauty and obvious pedigree of the layout, with four sets of tees the course is still enjoyable for golfers of all levels.

Lakes = dragonflies and lostballs
We had no problem with the conditions of the course, although a few greens had some bald spots we had to putt through.
Frustration set in when we began losing balls, over 10 between us. The fairways are narrow and many were lined on both sides by water - either marsh, creeks, ponds or lakes. And all of that water attracted an inordinate amount of dragonflies around the greens, making putting sometimes distracting.
I would recommend this course only for those who drive accurately most of the time.
Members run course
We played as a 2 some behind a 4 some and we were waiting on every hole but was not allowed to play through. We did not see anyone ahead of the group. Even on the tee box on the 18th hole one of the players decided to give a lesson to another player which resulted in the player hitting several balls as we waited at the tee box.
White Heron
It’s a nice course and fund to play - quite tricky - with firm greens (expect some terrible areas on a few holes), the range and training ground is really poor though. friendly staff. If they worked on the training areas and added som services like options to buy bottled drinks/snacks it would lift the rating up a bit.
White Heron Review
The course was great, check in and cart readiness excellent, weather perfect for a great Sunday afternoon of golf. We were behind a 4 person male grouping and it became obvious early that these 4 were there for a good time and also obvious that "liquid refreshments" were plentiful. They even carried these onto the green. On the back 9 this became intolerable as their constant consumption appeared to kick in even more. We called the Pro Shop and all they could do was to say they would send this group an electronic message on the cart computer. This did not work - we became 2 full holes behind. It got to the point where our back 9 was ruined so we drove in at 14.
The Man in the Pro Shop gave us a voucher for another 9 and added that there is NOTHING the course can do in situations like this. (No course Marshall either). The Pro Shop Man added that they can't even ask this group to come in off the course.
4 drunk guys take priority over everyone annoyed behind them!
If this is how White Heron operates, we will NOT BE BACK!
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club and I'm sorry your day was what you expected.
The group in front of you was part of a large group playing in an outing, everybody in front of you were foursomes and you were a twosome at the turn. We do marshal and they were physically approached about trying to speed up play, they also had informed us that they gave you an opportunity to play through. We do not condone being drunk on the course and this group was not.
Like you said we strive for everyone to enjoy themselves and I'm sorry we couldn't accommodate you, we will try harder next time.
Thank you WHGC
Best Course in the Area
I have played this course several times and it is the best course in a 20 mile radius. The staff is very friendly, the layout is challenging, water on 14 holes and the green is excellent shape. GPS has been added to the golf carts and that took my experience to a new level. From a value perspective it was the cheapest I found during the business time of year, Spring Break. Have had several vistors comment how they like this better than other places we have played.
condition
Fairways in poor condition. Greens were O.K. That's what saved it from being a poor rating. To expensive for the course condition
Excellent Difficult Course
Very good course with nice range and practice areas. Course itself is very narrow on many holes with water and roads next to fairways everywhere. If you don't hit it straight consistently, very hard to score here. Lot of interesting holes so definitely worth the $90 I paid but bring your A game.
Overrated - Needs work
Starter told us they just spent $6 million on the course. Have news for them - they need to spend another $6 million. Fairways were thin, Greens had patches of little or no grass, tee boxes felt like they hadn't been watered for weeks. Rough was rough. Pace was slow to falling asleep. Will not return in the near future.
Nice, challenging course.
Enjoyed the course very much. Great layout. Conditions were pretty good. Beverage cart came by often enough. However, value for the price was ‘slightly’ low. Was able to play Southern Dunes (much nicer course) for the same price in the afternoon. But would play White Heron again though.
Good condition, challenging, would recommend
My brother and I played early morning, shot 84 and 80. We liked the course. Layout is good. Lots of water. We played this time last year as well and found the course in much better condition this time. Overall , challenging but fair. We recommend this course.
Inexpensive golf but I4 highway has brutual traffic
White Heron was an inexpensive golf course to play and has some narrow challenging holes. My garmin device did not correspond to the course layout nor did my wife's phone app yardage site. You must depend on the GPS unit in your cart. It is middle of the road in terms of conditioning but it is challenging because there are narrow gaps to deal with that include water hazards. We commuted from Kissimmee and traffic is not fun. If you are in the local are for this course that is good but a commute that includes the I4, well, forget playing here when there is peak time traffic!
Great layout and conditions
Interesting risk and regards holes. Great visuals. We will play this course secod time for sure.
Good condition for early March
Started around 4 pm. Pace was excellent. Greens and fairways were in decent shape. Played course a number of years ago, it is in better shape now. Good value for money.
Short of good products
The course was in really good condition and well maintained. Only feed back is the pro shop doesn’t sell ANY Titleist products at all. A big course and no titleist golf balls??? Usually well prepared and was this time But I like to get stuff every course I play. Played it on little brother Birthday and enjoyed it thoroughly… PS. Also saw 3 gators and took a few gator selfies!!
Thank you for the kind words, we tried to be a Titleist dealer, but to many dealers within our area.
Once again thanks for playing White Heron, se you soon
Long course. Getting pricey. Greens were so so
Really comfortable carts. Wish they had an affiliation with surrounding HOA. 2k for 3 month membership. Not sure that's worth it.
Thank you for playing White Heron Golf Club, I'm trying to understand this review as we have a full snack bar and restaurant, also free water and ice outside.
Our range and short game practice area is one of the largest in central florida.
Our short game area consist of 3 greens, bunkers and full 125 yd hitting areas
Hope to see you again
