Great Practice Course for Intermediate Golfer
First time I played this course...pretty wide open fairways but some tall trees...still felt at ease in trying to work on my game of hitting fairways and hitting greens. Because its so flat good scrambling can be had. Overall liked it.
Nice easy course
The course is very flat with little turns and little trouble to get into. I hadn’t played in a long while so it’s a good course to play to break the rust off. The course has been well maintained with only a few spots in the rough that need work the fairways and greens are nice.
sohngolf
Best greens I have played in San Diego this trip. Fairways, tees and roughs were very spotty.
A good afternoon course
I am biased because I work right beside the course and make it down to the range there a few times a week. The course itself is not the most challenging. There are a few holes that will make you fight for it, but most are very GIR capable.
Currently some busted pipes make for some marsh lands right by the fairways.
My title of afternoon course is because pace of play is truly a tale of morning vs afternoon. It can get pretty backed up in the mornings with various clubs playing, but afternoons can be wide open. When I played a week before at 3:30, they actually got us off at 3:00 and we only ever encountered one single through the whole round. When I played on 3 Jul, we were 20 mins behind tee time at 8 in the morning. It was still fun, but I will stick with afternoon rounds on most days.
Excellent greens
Reasonable green fees, fun layout, flat, allowing a comfortable walking round. The rough is pretty bare and some fairways are dry, but that's just about every course in S.D. due to water restrictions. Pretty busy during their morning hours, but usually a quick round can be had from noon on.
Major plus!
Has some of the best greens (if not the best) in all of San Diego county.
miramar
the greens are good. the fairways are terrible. the traps are lousy. the carts have no wind screens. not worth it.
Cold & Windy
SoCal finally got its winter weather . It was 59% on first tee and desert winds blowing at 20-30 mph. Made getting a comfortable stance difficult and wind played havoc with shots into its face. However, played better than expected and finally pared #7 for the first time ever.
Windy Day at Miramar
Played as a twosome around noon and zipped around despite the wind. Caught the pack at the turn but still played the back in two hours. Greens were in great shape as usual and the fairways/rough were firm as expected with lack of rain. Its a east/west course so be prepared to play half the holes into the wind.
Nice layout for riding or walking.
Play this course at least once a week, many times twice a week. Pro shop guys are great, especially Dennis Duffy.
Starters and marshals are there for help and assistance. With great weather here, my relatives in in the Northeast are jealous as all get out. Can't play much golf in 2 feet of snow and 18% above zero.
Y'all come to sunny San Diego!!!
One of the best in San Diego
Play it just about any day around 12pm and you'll play the 18 holes at your groups pace. For the green fee, you will not find better greens anywhere in S.D. County that's open for public play. I would rate it 5 stars, but for the rough which is brutal being mostly dirt or hardpan..
Miramar Marine
Well maintained course. Wasn't hard to get on base.
Really enjoy this course. Play it twice a week. Usually when I play as a single I get around in 2:45 -3 hours.
Unfortunately when I catch up to the group ahead of me, I have to slow down. Cart foursomes will wave me through. Only complaint is that the "walkers" don't extend the same courtesy, even when they are all over the fairway an into the rough on an Easter Egg Hunt.. Need some "golf ethics" here.
Very Nice COurse
Great Course for fun. Fairways are flat, greens are sloped. A lot of trees. Pace is good.
Great Day 4 golf
Second time this week I Played @ Miramar. Great time . Really impressed with condition of greens--rolling true on a firm surface. Then I was told that they were NOT re-conditioned because the sand didn't arrive. That being the case, the greens should be left alone. Course is fine except for a few brown-outs on a couple of fairways. Need re-seeding.
Nice place to enjoy a casual round
Played with a frequent golf friend. We had no one in front of us for 10 holes. Then a twosome headed us off at #12--they just came up from behind us--and without so much as a "courtesy, can we play through," they did--and we let them go and continued our round which took us about 3:15 hours. A good time without holding anyone up or running into the group ahead.
Greens were in terrific shape, although winter over-seeding isn't going to take place for another two weeks. Nice place to play despite some players who lack the necessary golf courtesies.
Excellent greens
No other course open to public play in San Diego can match the greens at Miramar..
Fun Course
Course is flat except greens are all sloped. Lots of trees so accuracy is a must. Fun course.
Course condition
Greens were excellent. Course is pretty rough but there is grass in the fairways.
excellent greens. overall course condition was good. played as a single on a thursday and never waited on a single hole. The course is flat and not very interesting. definitely worth giving it a go. The highlight was seeing 4 deer grazing in the middle of the course. A surprising pleasure!
