Disappointed

We were running a little late on our trip to Sand Creek, drove 40 minutes and showed up about 2 minutes before our tee time. We were disappointedly surprised to find out our tee time had been moved 30 minutes back because the 2 some we were paired with had already tee’d off. Usually no problem but with a late twilight round it made all the difference. Great course but the staff always finds a way.

Horrible Staff

I have played this course multiple times and have had such a good time playing it. However, today one could say my group was harassed by the ranger. He followed us everywhere and would yell at us over a single mistake. He would say things like, “i’ll follow you the rest of the round if i have to” or “GET OFF THE FAIRWAY” in a very rude tone and sense of manner. This ruined my golf round and quite honestly makes me never want to play the course again.

Nice course; nice clubhouse; waitstaff need training

Played Ridges at Sand Creek for the first time on 8.20.2017. This is an enjoyable course.

The holes near the clubhouse are open, giving the feel of a links style course. However, the holes across the road have more of a northern Minnesota feel. The course if very much a Joel Goldstrand design, and was in good condition. The holes that cross the creek are designed to make you think about the proper club to lay up, or the club necessary for a forced carry.

The golf staff was wonderful. The only complaint was the waitstaff at the clubhouse after the round. It took an unreasonably long time to get service. Improving clubhouse service would improve the experience to 5 stars.

Under-Appreciated Hidden Gem

laying Ridges at Sand Creek golf course is almost like playing two completely different courses at the same time. Seven of the holes, the beginning and end of each nine, are wide open and quasi-links style. The rest of the course winds along the valley of Sand Creek, featuring fairways lined with mature trees, elevation changes, and forced carries over the creek. After playing the second hole, you'll cross the street of a housing development and enter the Sand Creek part of the course, and feel like you've been transported to a Northern Minnesota course. This was definitely my favorite part of the course. You'll use most of the clubs in your bag playing the course, and you won't need your driver on every hole. The par 4 14th, for example, plays 280 yards from the middle (White) tees, but Sand Creek crosses the fairway about 200 yards away. Best to lay up to a comfortable wedge distance. Favor the right side of the fairway, because a tree will block your approach from the left. The par 4 6th hole is a left dogleg requiring an approach shot over the creek. Trying to cut the corner is risky, because the woods on the left are not marked as hazard, so losing a ball is a possibility, as one of our foursome demonstrated. The par 4 8th on the more wide open part of the course is interesting. A split fairway is divided by a large bunker right in the middle. Left of the bunker is the shorter approach, but the right side probably has a better view of the green. The greens were a pleasure to putt on, moderately fast, smooth and rolling true. The fairways were well conditioned, but starting to show the effects of several days without any significant rain. Ridges at Sand Creek has five sets of tees, ranging from 6,961 yards to 5,136 yards, so players of varying skill levels will feel comfortable playing the course. For those living in the southern or western part of the Twin Cities metro area, Ridges at Sand Creek may be an under-appreciated hidden gem. Try it, and you'll almost certainly like it.

Solid MSP option

Above average layout with an interesting mix of links-like holes and tree-lined holes. Last 5 holes set up well to stage a great finish (5 pars probably helped my opinion on that) with a short par 4, then a 3-5-3-5 finish. Only hole I didn't care for was 13.

For the course conditions - Greens were good and interesting if a bit slow. Fairways could have used a trimming. Bunkers need some work.

Beautifully designed course

This course has 5 par 5s and 3s so it has its share of risk/reward holes which are fun. It also has 7 holes that are quite open with few trees and 10 holes that are down in a valley full of trees. It's a beautiful course with friendly employees and is not too pricey for how nice the course is. I have played here probably 20 times and it never gets old.

Best Course in the South Metro

I have played at this course probably 20 times this season alone. Course is always in great condition, and is challenging yet playable. Great design, love the back 9 set up of 3 par 4's, 3 par 3's, and 3 par 5's.... They also have great discounts for college students as well as seniors, do yourself a favor and get a turkey sandwich in the clubhouse!

New Favorite

I was very pleasantly surprised about this course. Great layout with some very scenic views of the creek meandering through the course. Conditions were very good, (and they were top dressing the tees while I was there, which wasn't an issue). Great diversity in design with some very interesting holes. The greens were ok, not very quick, but our playing partner said they are typically quick. Only real complaint was pace of play. Took 4 hours 40 minutes, the course needs to make sure they keep pace of play in the 4 hour range.

Hidden Gem

This is such a great course, the front 9 holes are more open close to a links style, while the back 9 is heavily wooded. You will lose a few golf balls on the course so make sure to purchase some in the golf shop before you tee off. This is one of my favorite courses to play in the south metro. Sand creek flows through the course and compliments the design of the course, very fun course.
The food in the restaurant is by far the best food I have had at a golf course.
