The starter and pro shop staff were friendly and helpful. The course was in great shape for September in the desert. Highly recommend this course if you are in the area.

This was at least the 10th time I have played this course. I like the set up - average to wide fairways with hazards to catch the most off-line shots. The fairways were in great shape, and the sand traps were very playable. The greens were a bit bumpy and slow, but that is typical in late summer hot weather. What prevents this course from getting 5 stars is the slow play, the primitive "clubhouse" (a temp building), and the lack of any course marshaling. There was a course marshal, but we only saw him on the second tee to ask us when we teed off - why? Our 3-some spent the entire round waiting to hit every single shot. We were stuck behind a 4-some that, by the end of the round, was more than 2 holes behind the group in front of them (also a 4-some). Basic golf etiquette would have had that 4-some allow us to play through. And the course marshal also should have provided that instruction - if he had been doing his job... But even with these issues, I will be back because this is one of the best courses in the Coachella Valley.

Course layout was nice and the back 9 were beautiful! However, the front 9 holes were in terrible condition. I was warned by the pro shop before we began our round, but this was after we had already booked and paid for our reservation. The course was being closed for 4 days after we played our round for maintenance that was long overdue.

I arrived at the course @11:00 for an 11:42 teetime. The parking lot was pretty full for the summertime in the desert. I went into the pro shop to check in. There were a few female golfers in the pro shop. I looked out at the range and noticed the range was full of female golfers. I asked the golf shop attendant if the course was busy. She said the golf course was holding a LPGA qualifying tournament later in the week. All the ladies were there for practice rounds today. I asked if I would be better off cancelling my round. She said the ladies have no teetimes they just go when their is an opening. I checked in with the starter and told him my concerns about a slow round. He said it shouldn't be to bad. I went to the range and found one open spot. The starter came down to the range and told me he paired me with another single and could get me off early. I paired up with a regular and the round went pretty well. A little waiting but all in a all a good day of golf.

The Gary Player course is an awesome course for all skill levels. The course is long and somewhat narrow but there is usually more room than appears off the tee. This weekend, there were a lot a pro golfers there preparing for LPGA Q-SCHOOL level 1. I'm currently about a 10 handicap and I played from the Gold tees at 6600 yards. The course was it good condition with the exception of a few dead areas in the fairways of a couple of holes. The greens were a little bumpy but manageable. Conditions were hot but otherwise perfect. I stood on the 18 tee -1 but bogied the last hole to shoot 37-35-72.

The course is hosting both LPGA Q-SCHOOL and the Golf Channel Amateur Tour National Championship, so that should speak for the quality of the course.

The staff was good, all nice people. The course layout is good - not to tough but still challenging. The tee boxes and around the greens a little burned out due to super hot early summer. Fairways in good shape.

The course was extremely patchy on the fairways lots of spots with no grass at all. The fringes are basically dirt in a lot of areas. The only reason I say I'd recommend it is because I've been the area in winter and I know what kinda of shape these courses are in then. This one had a good layout.

I played this course many times and it was always in good condition. Today, the fairways were burnt out. The greens were untrue, full of bumps and very slow. I don't know what happened in the past four weeks since I last played, but it was very disappointing.

We arrived at 11:10 AM for an 1134 teatime. Upon arrival staff advised us that we would not get to the tee until after noon, because the shotgun start from earlier in the day was taking a lot longer than planned. There were at least six groups ahead of us by this time. The temperature was approaching 105°.Two or three groups decided to leave (with refund) and a couple of other groups were allowed to transfer to the other Mission Hills golf course nearby. We had no options except to stay. After teeing off around noon, the first nine holes took us two hours and 40 minutes. The Ranger did offer us cool towels on hole number three, apologized to us on hole number five for the slow play, then on hole number eight he informed us that he told the groups ahead of us to speed it up. We decided to leave after nine holes, as the slow groups ahead made the turn and the afternoon, well it was still over 105°! The course was in good shape considering it is June, but by 2:40 PM all the staff had gone home, except one, the shops had closed and no one to speak to about our inconvenience. Good golf, good staff, just poor time management.
