Mission Hills - Gary Player Course

We arrived at 11:10 AM for an 1134 teatime. Upon arrival staff advised us that we would not get to the tee until after noon, because the shotgun start from earlier in the day was taking a lot longer than planned. There were at least six groups ahead of us by this time. The temperature was approaching 105°.Two or three groups decided to leave (with refund) and a couple of other groups were allowed to transfer to the other Mission Hills golf course nearby. We had no options except to stay. After teeing off around noon, the first nine holes took us two hours and 40 minutes. The Ranger did offer us cool towels on hole number three, apologized to us on hole number five for the slow play, then on hole number eight he informed us that he told the groups ahead of us to speed it up. We decided to leave after nine holes, as the slow groups ahead made the turn and the afternoon, well it was still over 105°! The course was in good shape considering it is June, but by 2:40 PM all the staff had gone home, except one, the shops had closed and no one to speak to about our inconvenience. Good golf, good staff, just poor time management.

Course was ok, felt there were nicer courses in the area for same price point.

This was a great golf course to get my golfing year started. To begin with, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The course itself was in good shape and was not all "tricked up" like some courses can be. Fairly generous landing zones off the tee, with greens that were receptive and not complicated to read.
Overall, this was a fun enjoyable round on a course I would definitely play again.

Course was great, fun, pin placements were tough, as the greens were hard and super fast. Fairways, greens and tee boxes were great shape. Anything off the fairways was pretty rough.

The Player course was fun to play and if you are on the fairway it was in great shape, off the fairway not so much. Greens were very good and pretty quick.

If you put the address in Waze it take you to Mission Hills not Mission Hills North. The lady at Mission Hills provided us with the proper directions. Unfortunately, 2 members of our group were running a little late and the starter kept pushing us to tee off prior to our scheduled time, he said he would bring the other players out to us. Fortunately, they arrived in time for our scheduled tee time. Course was pretty empty, so we were able to play quickly.

This course is perfect for a tune-up to the better tracks, fun to play and it will not beat you up.

Fun to play and well maintained. Greens are fast and true.

Snow birders from Canada here. We got lucky with a calm day and really enjoyed the round. The greens and fairways are in great shape, but the bunkers have 1” of sand in them, the rough and outer areas of the course are patchy with low mown weeds (visually let’s the course down) but doesn’t really effect the playability. Greens were slick and firm! Tough to hold and I found them tough to read. They are tiered greens kinda elevated and protected by collection areas (Gary Player) but very playable. Going to play again in 3 days, should eliminate a couple 3 putts I had. Hopefully wind will be down. Driving range is great and you get balls included! There’s not much else there, just the pro shop, and a coffee shop-like restaurant that close early. You might be disappointed as you enter the parking lot, but the golf course is why you’re there and it’s worth a play at the right price.

First time playing the course. The wind really picked up but that just added a little more challenge to the round. First, the staff was super friendly and helpful. The course is challenging but forgiving on missed shots in the fairways. Outside the fairway is dry and most holes have hills on the sides so even if you don’t hit the fairway, there is a good chance of it rolling back down. The fairways and greens are nice but quite firm. Hard to hold the ball on the greens but running up or landing on front of greens, recommended. Course is showing signs of warmer weather and windy conditions. Overall, really fun round and good experience.

We enjoyed the course layout. The wind gradually increased over the day to being almost unplayable at the end. I would love to go back on a calmer day and play again. Overall a nice layout.

Tee markers are lame. Difficult to pick out when driving to the tee box.
Some were metal that were turned in a direction that was hard to see.
Some were rocks, not consistent throughout the course.
Seems like decent size painted rocks would be an easy solution.
Wouldn't have to be fancy, just brightly painted rocks consistent on all the holes.

Course in great shape. Water on many holes. Greens were running 11 (fast). Great layout where each hole felt like you were alone on the course. There were drinking water stations every other hole. Only issue was pace of play. No marshals and took almost 5 hours. Definitely recommend this course.
