Hidden treasure
Had never played here before....took a mini vacation at this resort...and it was fabulous. Very scenic, well maintained. We played two days in a row...and were basically the only ones out there. Booked a hot deal for $40/pp while everyone else was paying more than $100. Not clear how they can afford to maintain this beautiful course with no one playing on it..so my advice would be go play while you can! You'll be glad you Did!
Amazing Course - VERY DIFFICULT
I love this course. It's nestled in the trees in what seems to be the middle of nowhere. It's very challenging with narrow fairways, wickedly fast undulating greens, and lots of visually scary "carries!" Especially for the longer tees. The forward tees seem to avoid everything challenging from the tee box.
Amazing course
All around amazing value, the course was in immaculate conditions and the staff was nothing but friendly... that 67 dollar hot deal for this course is the best value I've ever seen, I would pay 150+ for this and walk away happy
Phenomenal
This course is a gem! Nestled in the Sierras it's a deal and it's difficult. VERY difficult. The greens were so fast it was sort of silly. If you care about your score, skip this...if you care about a gorgeous quiet amazing course, then enjoy it as I did!
The dragon
One of the toughest courses I’ve ever played so much fun can’t wait to play it again
Amazing club house!
Amazing club house. The workers are friendly and nice. The restaurant is top notch.
The golf course is a disaster. Way to many blind shots. Greens that slope away in multiple directions. I was warned from a scratch golfer to avoid it. I was frustrated and can honestly say it was the most frustrating round i've ever played. They should stop maintaining the course and turn it into an 18 hole walk/hike. Sadly wont be back. Waste of a trip from Tahoe.
OUTSTANDING
This review is for the golf course only.
What an incredible visual layout and a very fair test of golf. Plenty of strategy needed depending on what tees you select and enough variety to keep it super interesting, there was only one hole that was "meh" in my opinion. Played some forward tees since it was a new track and had fun with wedges and short irons on approaches. Pick up a yardage guide at the pro shop (wish I had) to get a better advantage since not everything is as it meets the eye. Some absolutely stunning views here, just incredible to be so high up and watch tee shots sail into cloudy mountain backdrops. Course conditions are good but some greens had bare spots (rough winter?). Greens not overly penal but enough break to make you double check the read. Fairways and tees were good, bunkers can be thin. Can't wait to get back here again as soon as I can. Worth the price in my opinion
Hardest course I've played
Gorgeous course. Harder than anything else I've played.
Beautiful, challenging course
The Dragon lives up to its name. Beautiful scenery. Lots of variety in elevation and layout. Quite challenging for a recreational golfer but still absolutely fun to play. Staff and resort are superb.
Great Conditions, Terrible Layout
This course was in excellent shape after a record winter. However, the layout of this course was terrible. Most tee shots you are hitting to a blind landing area. The scorecard provides suggestions on how to play the hole, but the suggestions are vague and assume the average driver is 200 yards off the tee. One hole suggestion was along the lines of “if you hit your drive too long you will be in a difficult position”. The difficult position is a ravine and a dropped ball penalty. To help players I suggest rewriting the hole suggestions completely with suggested landing distances and distance to hazards. I also suggest carts with the hole layout and GPS so you have a better idea of the blind landing zone. Overall, not worth the price.
Bugs with a view!
Be sure you take you bug spray on this course. The course had a nice pace to it at 6AM. Some holes were more difficult than others, would come and play again with friends or family. Greens were in good shape.
Great fall golf
The most challenging greens I played all year. The course was terrific keep up the great work.
Course wasn’t in good enough condition for the price.
Glad I didn’t pay full price. Even at a lower rate the course still wasn’t worth it. Greens and even fairways were in poor condition.
