Go Play LPGA! Photo submitted by oakleyduff on 06/26/2013
What a Golf Facility Should be!!
I was looking for a place to play for my rare day off during the week and saw LPGA-The Hills Course on golf now for just 25$ - typically with my budget I dont get to play courses of this quality very often so this was a no-brainer. I arrived for my 7:21 tee time at 6:55 - was greeted by a very ncie young man who came to the car, took my bag and asked me if I had been here before - I replied with a no, and he proceeded to explain where to go what to do and advised me about the proshop, the 9th hole snack bar and that there would be a beverage cart (on a Monday at 7am) - I went inside the proshop and the young man at the counter was fabulous, again welcomed me to the course and explained the layout and how to get to the first tee. Went back out and claimed my cart from another gentleman, who made sure I knew where to go and wished me a good round. I followed the path down and around to the first tee, where i was greeted yet again by another fine gentleman, who told me I would be paired up with a 3-some, explained where the restrooms were on the course and when the 3-some arrived, introduced us to each and we were off. I typically shoot 85-95, so I am not a great golfer but the 3-some consisted of a brand new player, a gent with 20 year old clubs *hadn't played in over a year) and a sweet swingin lefty who also had not played in a while. I did not mind a bit.....they were a fun group. I did suggest a few times that we allow the players behind to play through, and did have to remind them about cart paths and nearness to the greens but all in all it was fine. At the 12th hole they got a phone call and had to leave, wished me well and I was now alone - since I was in no hurry, I took my time and lo and behold shot an 85....the course is fabulous, it is challenging but fair. Thank goodness for my Golf Buddy GPS and for my Game Golf app - I was able to plot my way around and make some smarter plays. WIth not feeling as though I had to compete with bigger hitters, I was much more accurate and scored much better than I expected. I would happily pay more than I did to play here again and am looking forward to trying the other course once the Greens come in (they are doing a full replacement, so only the Hills course is open)
Slow unorganized
We teed off at 6:45 am we played the front nine in an hour and 15 minutes it was great. However we get to the back nine and it’s all filled up with a shotgun start all these golfers jumped ahead of us. So we quit and got money refunded for nine holes. Very disappointed they should never of let me book a tee time know a shot gun start tournament was going on. I won’t go back again
Tough but Fair
We had a wonderful round of golf here. The pace of play was terrific. The greens are very fast. The fairways require some long carries from the White tees! Challenging to say the least! Fun place to play!
Course good. People bad
The course conditions were great. The problem was the members and staff sucked. You are not able to enjoy your round. When the OLD ladies behind you are complaining. Not the course to go to if you just want to spend quality time with your daughter
great couse, appropriately names "Hills"
Great course, seems most playing at LPGA play the Jones course not the Hills course. For the most part we had the course to ourselves. long par4's and 3's, a lot like my home course Mcgreger CC. Fairways and greens in great shape, nice sand. Development around the course is amazing, last year utilities were going in. This year, there are about 100 homes and new areas where utilities are being installed. Development doe not impact the course.
Tee Time Management
With A 1215 tee time. I showed up 45 minutes early to pay and warm up. I get to the Teebox at 12:10. There are 10 cart waiting. Meaning, there are five groups waiting to tee off. This is not the first time this has happened and I immediately went and got my money back. Last time I played it took three hours to complete nine holes, and I left without getting my money back for the other nine holes. They have a fairly decent course, but terrible time management. The Rangers should be making people skip holes who are causing the holdup. This is the only way to get the message for people to stop dropping extra balls in the Fairway because they hit a poor shot. I live in the neighborhood of this golf course and it’s sad that I had to drive 30 minutes away to get a 4 1/2 hour round of golf in
Great Golf Course
Played the Hill course. Very challenging for approach shots. Greens rolled true. Faiways in great shape. Higher handcaps should play Jones course.
Test of Golf
The Hills course is one of the most challenging courses in the area. Always in pristine condition.
