Great pace of play

This course was a perfect challenge for me! Tough holes but great millage, the pace of place was pretty quick so I didnt end up waiting between holes. Wanted to try this course out with a newer Titleist set I'm thinking of buying to see how they played on this kind of millage - found you can get rental sets brought to the course from ClubShare and I realized I do not want those clubs haha.

The CCO

It has been a few years since I've played CCO. The renovation that took place 2-ish years ago has definitely made the golf course fairly more challenging. The greens were quick but can tell they can get them lightning fast when needed. This is a special spot - wonderful staff, exceptional off-course amenities, a superb layout that rewards good shots, allows bad shots to scramble for par and scenic especially playing in the evening with the central Florida sunsets and skyline backgrounds of the city beautiful. Special spot, lucky enough to had been invited to play.

Perfect member club

Great connectivity of green-to-tee; easily walkable, interesting greens to contrast with flat site; somewhat over bunkered, but good definition throughout.

A spin around a central Florida classic

Finally got to experience Orlando’s charming old-school club. It felt kinda like a more polished and supersized version of Winter Park GC. This old Ross course was recently renovated and the bunkers really draw a lot of attention, while the greens are mostly mellow but with a few little wrinkles and nice variety of shapes. I love the routing. Very compact and probably makes for a very social and intimate experience on a busy weekend morning.

We played the course a few days after a tee to green punching so there wasn’t much fire in the turf, but looking at the ground and open entrances to the greens I’ll bet it’s a lot of fun to play in the drier winter months

Historic golf is somewhat rare in a central florida. If you can get hooked up here, and add another one of my favorites El Campeon up the road, it’d be a neat little combo (with WP9 as a nice little cherry on top).

Not your typical Orlando experience

I've teed it up a fair bit around Orlando, and playing CCO felt like I was far away from theme-park mania.
Maybe it was the vibe of being at a private club (my first around Orlando) or maybe it was the old-school architecture, but everything felt like this would be a place I would want to hang my hat as a member, not just visit for a day.
It was playable and enjoyable. Most Florida courses have too much water or too many bunkers. This had the perfect balance of both.
The day we played the greens were still recovering from aeration so I'm curious to see how fast they get in season.

A Most Enjoyable Round

Historical Donald Ross course was challenging around the exceptionally maintained green complexes and very fair off the tee while still providing the feel of a tree-lined fairway. Good mix of doglegs, long & short par3s. Halfway house had great food and quick and always feel that Southern Hospitality. A very nice Country Club experience.

Great golf course - phenomenal staff/service

CCO provides for a great day of golf - the course is not too difficult for higher handicap golfers, but provides enough challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The course is always in impeccable shape and the club's commitment to customer service is evident. Great golf club, highly recommended.

Favorite in Orlando

Best course in Orlando for my taste. Great pace of play, walker friendly, exceptional staff, classic design, fast greens. If you get the opportunity, this is a must play. For members, the best family club in Orlando.

Walk the fairways of a historic Ross design

If you are a Donald Ross fan and have an invitation to play Country Club of Orlando then by all means take up the offer.  My son and I recently played on an ideal day. We love to walk with trolleys and in Orlando, CCO is one of the few courses where that is an option. Sad...because that's my favorite way to play.  CCO can be set up to challenge, but on most days it's all about fun. You better be sharp on and around the greens as you'll be faced with pitches from flat lies on tightly mown areas to raised greens.  This is a golf course that rewards thoughtful play.  Conditioning, tree  management, beauty, staff, walk in park, all get A plus from me."

One of the Best

Where to start, the golf course is very well manicured and there isn't blade of grass out of place. The golf course offers its challenges, the fairways are tree lined, but there is some room to miss a tee shot. The par 3's are great as they all provide a different length and head toward different directions. A unique blend of straight holes, doglegs, and scenery will make you want to come back every day.

Classic track, great amenities

If you've had a chance to play any Donald Ross golf courses, Country Club of Orlando will feel very familiar. CCO is a classic Ross design in a few key ways:
- great walking course (tees are a short walk from greens);
- small greens;
- natural use of local topology;
- minimal man-made mounding;
- visual trickery, use of tee box alignment to guide you away from best spots
CCO is a great country club, offering all of the amenities (fine dining, pool, locker rooms, etc) that you would expect from a high-end establishment.

A Hidden Gem in Orlando

I love Country Club of Orlando. Well, I love all Donald Ross courses but CCO is really special. The location in Orlando makes it a hidden gem as well.
I had a USGA qualifier here so the set-up was long but it was still great. The greens are big and roll perfectly. The bermuda grass can be challenging around the greens but that's Donald Ross for you. Stay below the hole...
The par 5's here give you a break so I would advise making birdie here is possible. CCO is great for walking because the holes are parallel to one another. Overall, it's a great course if you can find your way on it. There's also an awesome short game area hidden towards number 11.
Great food, great course, play there!
