Rocky Point Golf Course
About
Rocky Point Golf Course has one of the most interesting histories of any golf course in Florida. Originally opened in 1911 under the name f the Tampa Automobile Club, it was one of the first courses in the state. It closed in 1942 due to World War II. After being turned over to the city of Tampa for a mere $1, it reopened in 1954 as Rocky Point Golf Course. It is the closest golf course to Tampa International Airport, only a 15-minute drive away. The layout provides a fair challenge water hazards coming into play on 11 holes and sand bunkers strategically placed throughout. Rocky Point Golf Course's lakes are home to an abundance of wildlife and also serves as a bird sanctuary.

What a Deal!
GolfNow got me and a friend on for $10 apiece. A third joined us later for full price $25. I think the normal prices are relatively fair for the course. The fairway roughs needed to be trimmed a bit, but overall the course was well groomed. The greens were nice, playing very slow. Length and pin placement were adequate. Wind plays a factor on this course, especially on the back 9. They have a driving range and putting green. Generally, a fun course. The back 9, has some fun holes and there are a few par 4s with modest length but narrow entry. 14 or 15 is tough, the hole with the creek plays REALLY long. Staff is friendly and the usual starter is nice.
Not again
This was the first time playing this course and I would never play it again. The fairways are very rough and the pace of play is outrageous. The greens were the only Pleasant part of this experience.
Well manicured greens.
Beautiful and challenging course.I played better than I expected.A few of the fairways had some brush in the middle which didn’t seem fair. All in all I can’t wait to play it again.
Terrible Course Conditions and Pace
I only played 6 holes out of my 18 hole tee time. The course was in very rough shape, except for the greens. Completely infested with ants. The fairways and rough are nothing but bald spots and ant hills. The ants had infested my cart as well, I was bitten multiple times before I finally gave up. I had to disinfect and exterminate my bag due to all of the ants getting all over it. Never going back to that place, complete **** hole. Especially not for $50 /round.
Bro'ing the game
Foursomes w/ matching bowling shirts, backwards hats, loud music, playing from tips (and driving it 150yds if that).
Ridiculous wait time between shots, POOR course etiquette. Groups playing Superball from wrong fairway, have to wait for all 4 to hit, greens could be nice but ball marks galore. Tee boxes crowned, little to no grass. For $50!
Fun
Good time. Only downside, the course is narrow. Don’t hook or slice, you will likely lose your ball.
Not well maintained
Nice layout but fairways and tee boxes are not in good condition at all. Greens were pretty good.
Ok for the money
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Course was rough, fairways had a lot of burnt out and dirt areas, tee boxes were pretty beat up and uneven. Greens were long and slow
Rocky Points to happiness
G O L F. : Great Opportunities,Lots of Frustration Love this course!!
Idiot with a girlfriend
3:10 pm tee time on Saturday March 16. They put me behind a girl in a dress and Sandler who was whiffing at the ball on the first tee. I sensed it coming and asked her boyfriend if I tee off before them. But the idiot said they were all ready to go. I hope he reads this (if he can read). I immediately went to the pro shop and got a rain check. Next time take her the range.
