Need to play this course a second time to know where target areas are on the course.

Tight fairways. Some holes are below you and some are above you. Yard markers are hard to find sometimes/ 150 marker is easy to find.

Greens need to be watered more.Dead areas around green with dirt spots.

Over all I like the course and layout. Can be intimidating the first time your play it.

Carts were in great shape and moved rapidily up and down the hills/cliffs. Great day of golf

Very nice course with great views but course had a lot of bear spots and greens were cut a little long compared to other courses in the area. For the price it was a nice place to play and has some very challenging holes.

Although it's mid summer and the heat is off the charts, this treasure is an ideal location for a summertime challenge. The course is well maintained despite the challenges of heat and monsoon damage. Every hole is unique with undulating narrow fairways or slopping greens. It's a par 70 and the distances from the white tees are perfect for non power hitters to be able to reach the greens in 2 on the par 4's. Every hole has some shade on it to briefly escape the sun and the staff ensure there is plenty of drinking water to stay hydrated. The drink cart is well stocked and very mobile! Tonto's Bar and Grill is not your typical golf course restaurant or bar for that matter! This hidden treasure is staffed with professionals who know how to create a unique dining experience even if you are just in from a grueling round under oppressive heat. The menu offers a culinary delight and the food preparation is phenomenal. I was blown away by the combinations of flavors, quantity and quality of my late lunch! This course will definitely become a part of my "must play" list and Tonto's will be added to my select choices for dining even if I'm not playing golf!

I was curious to see the course as I had read somewhere it was used for calendar pictures.

It is very scenic indeed. This last time I played, I took my wife with me and she really enjoyed the course. It is not overly long and it offers a number of elevated tees, including a couple of par 3's on the front. Although the greens had been aerated the week before, they were rolling true. Great value for money; I sure recommend it. One can also tour Cave Creek after the round.

The staff was very friendly from the front desk to the cart girl to the snack shack. The course was in great shape. We counted 23 baby quail, about 10 juvenile geese, 4 deer. Had a very nice, quiet and relaxing lunch at the snack shack. We had great conversations with the cart girl and the snack shack girls, super friendly! My dad (from Oklahoma) couldn't stop talking about how much he enjoyed the whole experience. I call this the most beautiful course I've ever played.

I haven't played Rancho Manana for at least 5 years and I quickly remembered why...the pace of play was horrific! The course is very challenging and when below average players think they are professionals (playing from the furthest tees, over analyzing each shot, doing a 360 degree survey of their putt), it makes for a long wait in between shots! At no point during my round a marshal come around to assist in getting the group ahead of us moving along. So after over 4 hours just to get to the 16 tee we had enough! Granted I know its summer time in the Valley of the Sun and staffing levels are low but how about sending the Starter out to check on things. With all the other courses to play in the Phoenix area it will be at least another 5 years before I play RM again!

This course has the typical Arizona mountain layout - elevated tee boxes, sloped fairways and greens. I played when the greens were aerated and the fairways were slightly muddy in some areas. It has 2 severely downhill par 3s and a short par 4 with a severely uphill green. If you are looking for a short course with lots of elevation change, then this is for you, however I will not be going back anytime due to the price and conditions.

The condition of the fairways were spectacular. We really like the course design. The greens are small and narrow but not impossible. The views are really great. We would play this course again in a heartbeat. The elevation changes create variations in the green speeds.

Short and sporting. 6000+ yards from the tips. Expect to hit a lot of short iron second shots. Lots of great views. Decent shape but don't expect the stimpmeter to be beyond 9. Terrific restaurant for lunch or dinner. A really pleasant experience.

Beautiful course but not a place you can really enjoy yourself and take in the scenery... We drove about 45 minutes and brought friends from out of state to do just this, unfortunately. Course Martial was strongly encouraging us to "catch" the group that started 2 holes in front of our group. They want you to play as fast as possible regardless if anyone is on the course. Our foursome didn't have a group AT ANY TIME behind or in front of us but the Course Martial was overly concerned about our 4 hour and 30 minute round. The fun of the game took a turn quickly and so did our scores.

Once the round was complete, I decided to mention my concern to the Golf Pro (Carolyn, I believe). Explained what happened and her response was similar to the Course Martial. I was pretty disappointed in the overall dialog that came from my comment. The Golf Pro seemed unconcerned and unapologetic. From a customer who just paid $400 for a group to play their course I found her tone and interest in my concern absolutely unacceptable. Sadly, I can't say I'll return to golf here or recommend it to any friends\family. All four people in our group share the same feelings.
