Short and sporting. 6000+ yards from the tips. Expect to hit a lot of short iron second shots. Lots of great views. Decent shape but don't expect the stimpmeter to be beyond 9. Terrific restaurant for lunch or dinner. A really pleasant experience.

Beautiful course but not a place you can really enjoy yourself and take in the scenery... We drove about 45 minutes and brought friends from out of state to do just this, unfortunately. Course Martial was strongly encouraging us to "catch" the group that started 2 holes in front of our group. They want you to play as fast as possible regardless if anyone is on the course. Our foursome didn't have a group AT ANY TIME behind or in front of us but the Course Martial was overly concerned about our 4 hour and 30 minute round. The fun of the game took a turn quickly and so did our scores.

Once the round was complete, I decided to mention my concern to the Golf Pro (Carolyn, I believe). Explained what happened and her response was similar to the Course Martial. I was pretty disappointed in the overall dialog that came from my comment. The Golf Pro seemed unconcerned and unapologetic. From a customer who just paid $400 for a group to play their course I found her tone and interest in my concern absolutely unacceptable. Sadly, I can't say I'll return to golf here or recommend it to any friends\family. All four people in our group share the same feelings.

Beautiful setting with majestic scenery. If only course conditions were as good.

Greens are inconsistent, some moderately fast, others agonizingly slow, almost all splotchy (disease?). Fairways are in less than favourable condition. Divot mix bottles on my cart were empty - how can the management expect to have golfers do their part in repairing divots when they don't provide the tools?

Putting practice green was slower than molasses, and not at all indicative of the greens on the course.

Considering what they charge, I would expect a lot more.

Challenging course with beautiful views. Wind sometimes ups the ante. Greens were a little tall and very slow. Could use a little marshaling in the afternoon as we were over a 5 hour round due to a slow playing 3-some in front of the group in front of us. Gave us more time to enjoy the course I guess.

One of the most enjoyable courses for me and my wife. Some holes are simply breathtaking. I could do without the tee shot on hole #16. It is the only shot that I found was really challenging. Greens were in good shape. Fairways were excellent. Playing in early twilight hour is the best value.

Since 2004 I've probably played Rancho Manana 75-100 times - hands down one of my favorite courses in AZ. Staff are all friendly - pace of play can be slowish but on this particular day there was virtually no waiting other than the 9th hole which is normal. Greens and fairways were in perfect shape. Played with a guest visiting from MD and he was in awe of the views from the holes up the side of the "mountains". Love me some Rancho!

Short course and very tight fairways which really lends its self to very slow play. Par 70 course that took 5 plus hrs. Some good par 3's, short par 4's that have to wait till group ahead is on the green sometimes. Might be enjoyable course on days when not crowded.

This course is beautiful. Up the hill, down the hill around the lake. Tight fairways with blind shots . Desert on one side and OB in the casitas on the other. Greens we're rolling true but much slower than say tpc stadium. Hard to judge speeds. Staff were friendly and helpful, cart service was always around every 2-3 holes. Well worth the drive out north.

We will play this one again.

I've played almost every course in the Phoenix area, but this one somehow slipped by before today. Nice little course that has an old-school feel. Very short in length (6,000 from tips) because it is squeezed onto a smaller property, thus many dogleg holes. I like the many elevation changes, you don't get to much of that here. Course is in pretty good shape, it's not spectacular, but it's good. Definitely a target-golf course with tighter fairways and smaller greens. Highly recommend for beginner or intermediate golfers (15+ hcp) due to its length. Lower hcp might not get the test they want. It's a fun course. However, I wasn't thrilled with the $97 greens fee for a Thursday morning, but that's what you get here until the heat comes. Phoenix courses are all way overpriced until the summer. The Tonto Bar and Grill on the property has a great outdoor seating environment!

Played the course on recommendation of friends. We booked the round a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, the weather turned chilly and windy the day we played and it rained the night and early morning before our round. The course was wet in a few spots, but was in good condition. Only complaint was the speed of the greens because they were quite slow and bumpy. Fairways were excellent as were the tee boxes. The course is not worth the rack rate for us, but for the discounted rate it is a fair price. Parking is somewhat of issue if you expect to park close to the clubhouse, as there are condos in the immediate area, plus restaurant. There is a bag drop, so we used that for the clubs. Course is very friendly for the up tees (4464) yards and only a few short forced carries. I played the blue tees (6016 yds). We were paired with two members, so that was a huge help in local course knowledge.
