Eagle Mountain Golf Club
About
Designed by Scott Miller, this course is located in the southeastern foothills of the McDowell Mountains and is an innovative departure from the “target” style courses constructed in the desert in the recent past. Its layout takes advantage of a variety of land features: rolling hills, ridgelines, lush valley and washes, with a backdrop of prominent mountain outcroppings. In many instances, long extended views into untouched desert landscapes and area landmarks, such as Camelback Mountain, will be afforded. It is a strategic design, which asks the player to make choices relative to skill level.

pros and cons
Course design and challenge most beautiful and excellent. Truly spectacular but, and there always is a but, cart path design pathetic. You would pull the cart up to almost every green and be faced with a steep downhill walk to the green only to be faced with an uphill battle back to your cart. This no doubt leads to slow play. A little thought put into the cart path design would go along way. If for any reason you miss a shot off the tee good look walking down to your ball. I found the course truly excellent but my wife not so much. This is a course for single digit handicappers.
Scenic course
We love playing at this course but pricey for twilight times. Pace was slow so we turned around and played front nine again. We were able to finish 17 holes before it got some what dark.
Eagle Mountain Review
The course was in good playing condition and the views were beautiful. I definitely would play this course again.
Great course for $77.
It’s the dead of summer with torrential downpours and monsoons making everything soaked. That said, I have heard during peak season, this course is incredible. I thought it was good for the price point. Glad I got to enjoy this place. Great views. Staff was outstanding. All of them made me feel welcome immediately. Pace of play was awful. 5.5 hour round. Backlogged seven groups. Come on. Course layout was fun. Plenty of slopes to help you out for the errant drive. I would play again and recommend for this price point in these summer conditions.
Must play
If you haven't had the opportunity to play Eagle Mountain, you'll want to add it to your "must play" list. It has great views, a challenging but fun layout, and excellent playing conditions.
Great course
Fun, beautiful and challenging. Fairways a little dry. Would be nice if they had a beverage cart. Otherwise a great experience.
Poor condition
Very poor conditions. Greens were slow and bumpy, fairways wet and inconsistent. Pro shop staff unfriendly. Better places to play in Phoenix for the price.
Great scenery and lots of amphitheater greens
Not every golf course is blessed with a perfect piece of land for the game. Credit Eagle Mountain's design and construction with navigating a severe piece of property in a way that does not relentlessly beat golfers up. Significant elevation changes can intimidate, but there is often more room than there appears, and many greens sit in big amphitheater-type bowls, such that a wayward approach will often bound down to safety. There are still plenty of forced carries and lost-ball potential, but that peril is balanced out by some stunning views over the Valley of the Sun. It's a great spot for a late-afternoon round because the sunsets from the clubhouse deck are tough to beat in inland golf.
Great day at Eagle Mountain
It was a pleasure playing the course today. It was in great shape and the greens were running nicely. Pace of play moved along and the marshal was attentive to keep things going. The practice facility is very nice also. I would have like to ended the round with a drink and snack to the restaurant but they were closed by 4:30. I would definitely come back to play.
Thank you so much for the great review and hope to see you again soon.
Nice course
Course was still growing back in after overseeding…pace of play was too slow…waited on every tee for the guys in front. I think they are jamming too many people in. Also let the 2pm t off ahead of us..and they were not good. Layout and scenery is 2nd to none.
Thank you for your comments. Apologize for the pace of play and hope to see you again soon.
Thank you for your feedback. Hope to see you again soon
Ken, thanks for the feedback. We will forward this this to our Agronomy team as well as Management.
