The course is beautiful and the layout is challenging but great fun. The thing that made it a terrible experience it that if you don't keep up with the players to the second, then you are hounded and watched the entire day. We were even reprimanded for falling a fairway behind when the folks in front of us stepped out on the turn. We were expected to catch up with the group that was ahead of them. The greens are quite hilly but you can't have fun with the challenge...take a moment and try for a good put because if you do, you will be knocked down once again for being slow. It is such a sham that one can't enjoy this beautiful course.

The more I play the course the more I like it!

Greens and fairways in good shape. A few dead spots.

Maintenance crew removed damaged trees and debris after significant storm on 22/3.

Round played to 4h compared to typical ~5h round. Pace was good.

Wife was disappointed in food items available at clubhouse. I'm about the golf, food not significant impact on my day.

Good value for $.

This course has potential. Nice layout, wide forgiving fairways. Our cart was making an annoying high pitched whistle sound. It also would stall and we would have to push to start it. We called the proshop and they sent a Ranger out. Instead of giving us a new cart, he told us the carts will do that if they get wet and the noise should stop after a few holes. The whistling stopped but not the stalling. It made for a frustrating round of golf. They also had sprinklers on a couple of holes near the green. We had to get wet to retrieve our balls. They should water before tee times start.

It was a record breaking hot day, 96F. Very slow pace of play, 5 hours round. We started at 12:30, finished at 6:30. Found water tanks run out of water at water stations, called the pro shop, was told no one available to change the water tanks. Could be dangerous.

Nice course in good condition. Greens and fairways were good, sand traps not so much (mud bogs with little sand).

Would play again as I enjoyed the layout.

On line or over the phone, always 'wide open' and then 3 hours to play 9 holes, rarely finish 18. They stay open a couple weeks longer than the rest during overseeing, and again overbook to make a few extra bucks. Terrible, highly NOT recommended....

This was the second time for me on this course. Pace was good for mid-March.

The greens mostly fast. There are some hard-pan areas typical of AZ but otherwise great shape.

My only gripe was The pro shop greeting (by a club pro or older manager looking feller) was cold and blunt. I felt unwelcome and felt as if I was putting him out for trying to pay for my round.

I'll likely return, but I hope the staff gets addressed.

We were concerned that it would be tough to get the round in starting after 2pm but the day worked out well. We were able to start early and although we waited on most tees, it was only for a few minutes. Views and surroundings were lovely. Good advice from starter and friendly cart and clubhouse staff. Finished in 4hrs 10 mins and got a great deal. Best round of our vacation, glad we took a chance and tried it out.

Let me start by saying that I love this course, it's one of my favorite in the valley. the layout is fun and challenging, and is visually beautiful with some awesome views from many of the tees. Course conditions are great and the greens roll smooth and fast. The bunkers are coarse and rocky, though, so either avoid them or prepare for some scratches on your wedges. Also, the bunker sand left on the green from previous players can make for some brushing away of small rocks before putting.

That being said, pace of play is a pet peeve of mine and this course peeved me to no end. I play pretty quickly, but was grouped with a foursome that I thought might meet the slower pace that an early afternoon in peak season is often found throughout the Valley of the Sun golf courses. But even with a "slow" foursome, we were held up on every tee box for up to 10 minutes at times. I noticed groups ahead of us hitting short , bad shots all over the place and taking too much time to advance down the fairway. It's not a course for the inexperienced player, IMHO. Not during peak season, anyway. This course estimated pace of play at 4hrs 20min, but our round took almost 5 and a half hours, because of holdups with groups ahead of us. I didn't see any course Marshall coaxing slow groups to pick up and advance as was warned on the play cards and cart placards, so this would be my main gripe about this course.

I love this course for it's design, excellent condition, and challenging layout, but it seems I'd be better off waiting to play it during the summer off-season when it's not so crowded with ultra-high handicappers or inexperienced players, and there's a reasonable expectation to finish a round in under 4 hours

First time playing course. Friends told me it is the hardest course in Phoenix, and I would somewhat agree in that it is challenging. Lots of water, some narrow fairways, and most of the greens have massive undulation. Conditions were good, starter was very friendly and helpful. Pace was slow but that might have had more to do with who was in front of us than anything else.

5 1/2 hours to play 18 holes-terrible. That's what my buddy told me later after I left at the turn. Couldn't take it. Had to wait at every tee box and every shot from the fairways. Saw the ranger on the front 9 once-he just waived as he drove past. I realize its tourist season but really? Spread out the tee times a bit to at least try to make it a 4 1/2 - 4 3/4 hr. round during the season so it will still be enjoyable.

Will wait till summer to return.
