Wigwam Resort - Gold Course
About
The Gold Course is one of three 18-hole courses offered at the Wigwam Resort, which was named one of Golf Magazine's "Silver Medal Resorts." Golf Digest cited the Gold Course as one of the best public courses in the state. Mature trees are present on all of the courses, as well as winding creeks that create water hazards, which come into play on several holes. There are also strategically placed sand bunkers present on the course. The rolling landscape of the course causes elevation changes that can affect shots. The Wigwam Resort facility also has a putting green and chipping area.

Alot of work needed
No water coolers on course. Umm...Arizona....Desert?
Yardage markers are in the middle of the fairway. Kinda odd, oh and they are all off by 20-30 yrds!
No way to identify if flags are back, middle, or front locations.
All of the 3 courses at the Wigwam intertwine. Unfortunatly there are no signs guiding you to the next location.
Don't waste your $ here.
Overall good
For the peek season there were a few greens that had some damage that I had to putt thru. I had to hit balls out of divots on the driving range as it appeared that tees hadn’t been moved from the from the day before. (I played on a Sunday). When paying peak prices, I would expect to have grass to hit off of at the range. Overall course layout and conditions were good. I would play again
Absolutely Wonderful
My husband and I enjoyed playing wigwam gold course. The only challenge we had was the wind, but other than that we had a wonderful time. The course is maintained very well, the staff is friendly and courteous, and most helpful when we had questions on where things were. Highly recommend this course. We will definitely play it again.
Dated Course
Played Gold course. Very boring old style course. Lots of deep bunkers and crowned greens. We were pared up with a women golfer. The women's tees were only five to ten yards ahead of the men's. Seemed unfair. The driving range had artificial mats. Not a good value for this time of year at this price.
i didn't like the greens, greens needed some work , and greens were difficult putt on.
Great course, great value.
Payed twilight rate and still finished 18 holes so great pace of play! Course is lush, green and well groomed, unlike the typical Phoenix area desert courses. Will return for more.
Mr Malcolm Barker
Extremely tough course need too play it a couple of times to get up to speed with Greens
Good conditions but mediocre staff
The Gold course was great. Fairway and greens were well maintained. Our only complaint is about the marshal/ranger. Before we even started he made a comment to myself and parents about ensuring we play at pace and to make sure we picked our ball up if we just couldn’t keep up. My parents and I are average but fast paced golfers as we finished our round in 4 hours and 15 minutes with a starting tee time of 11:40 am. We had to wait for the 4 men in front of us and wonder if the marshal said anything to them about their pace. We paid the same as every other group and don’t deserve the additional unnecessary comments from the marshal about how to keep pace.
Thank you,
Dr. Hutchinson
Great track
Although the pace of play was a bit slow it was a great layout with variable challenges of water and slope.
Larger trees can block view if you are wide on the generous fairways.
The greens were a nice speed and not overly fast but consistent and reasonable.
As a note some of the standing water was odorous and full of garbage which detracted from an otherwise excellent view. All in the Wigwam Resort is a must play and for the price it is a great value.
Always a favourite
Classy course with great amenities. Not your typical desert track. Nice to play on so much grass with big trees, this reminds me of northern courses.
Long and hard, but the greens are tough but consistent and the bunkers, fairways and tee boxes ( all even and level) are great.
It really does feel like a resort and the restaurant bar was bumping.
Liked it.
Nice layout with wide forgiving fairways. Greens are true are in GR8 shape as was everything else.
There are water fountains on the golf course and on Gold, they are available in 7 different locations. There are yardage markers in the middle of the fairway. They are also on the side of the fairway as you enter the fairway so that we have markings every 25 yards and the yardage is also done with a laser for accuracy. Flags are identified front middle or back by a corresponding pole at the 150 yard marker with either a red, white or blue cap to indicate front middle or back. On Par 3 holes this is located at the tee box. This information is also on the scorecard. You are correct on the need for more directional signage which is currently being addressed. We have two of the courses that intersect, not 3 and when playing Gold, its only in one location.
