Red Mountain Ranch Country Club
About
The golf course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club is a beautifully designed layout set against a desert landscape with rock formations, mesquite trees, and cacti. Pete and Perry Dye designed the course, combining both beauty and challenge. This championship course was built on rolling terrain and has large, sharply contoured greens and extensive mounding that is reinforced with railroad ties. There are not only deep sand bunkers but also grass bunkers protecting the greens. There are also four ponds on the course at Red Mountain Ranch & Country Club, but only three create water hazards that come into play on four holes. A notable hole on the course in which water comes into play is the sixth, a hole that has a peninsula green with water surrounding it along three sides.

Slow play
While this course is a beautiful course, the winter visitors seem to spend more time enjoying the scenery than golfing, hence slow play. Don't bother teeing off after 1:30 you might not finish ( in the winter months).
First time
This course is difficult if your swing isn’t working. Greens are challenging and some with deep bunkers. Front 9 greens were recently top dressed with sand and rolled slow and didn’t run true. A yardage book was provided and it’s valuable if you haven’t played it before. A fun track and hope to play it again sometime.
Nice course, houses everywhere
Enjoyed the course, it was well kept. Greens were a little slow, and lots of homes on every hole. Overall liked it but was a little pricey for what it is.
Beautiful course
The course is very pretty and well maintained.
The only issue was my tee time was booked for 2:17 and Red Mountain didn’t have our reservation at that time but had it at 2:33. I’m not sure how that happened. I even showed them my confirmation and they apologized but our 2:17 tee time was full . I’ve never have had that happen before and wonder how that could happen. We did end up teeing off a little earlier than 2:33.
Over all it was a great day on a beautiful course and plenty of sunshine.
The fairways need more water; it is quite dry within 70 yards to green. Tee boxes are narrow and well-used. The greens are nice and always elevated, good design.
Stay Away
Just in deplorable conditions. No rough, just rocks and stones and more G.I.R. Unmarked areas that i have ever seen. $200 down the tubes. Pete Dye would be so embarrassed if he saw how they treated his brilliant course design. sad.
Curious...
I love playing this course, especially early AM. The past 2 times, however, "members" without tee-times hopped on the course behind me & just kept pushing. We weren't even off the green when they'd take their approach shots. Pretty rude conduct. So, members don't need tee times?
As good as ever
Return visit: fairways and greens were top notch
As always with Pete Dye courses you are punished if you miss the small greens. But a fair risk reward challenge….but not for the faint hearted. Staff very helpful.
Red Mountain Ranch
Overall a good course. Course conditions good. Pete Dye course with very extreme green complexes. Expect a lot of three putts. Otherwise a fun course. Played with another twosome who we were paired up with. Both were super friendly, one is a member and they helped us navigate the direction off the tee as there were a lot of doglegs. Only complaint of this course was pace of play was a bit slow 4 hours 49 minutes. But, for the price , Red Mountain Ranch is a good value and I’d not hesitate to return and play it again.
Challengeing course
This course is not for beginners. It has many challenging greens and a fair amount of bunkers. Many of the greens a raised which will make it difficult for beginners. If you’re looking for a challenging course this is a must play course.
good challenge
course was in good shape except for the greens which were slow and fuzzy. Too bad that they are not cutting and rolling to get the speed up.
Nice Dye Course / Friendly Staff
We played this course with a 2pm tee time and pace of play was excellent! Played in under 3 1/2 hours.
Typical Pete Dye course with deep bunkers, greens with false fronts, as well as turtle back greens, and lots of railroad ties. Fun & interesting round.
Only saw the beverage cart once in 18 holes - on the back nine and she was leaving for the day.
Most enjoyable
Nice layout although not difficult but in great shape and some interesting holes!
Enjoyed my round but was far too slow which was annoying and spoilt the occasion slightly.
Staff were super friendly.
Only downside was that they charge $10 for range balls which I think is unnecessary.
