Superstition Springs Golf Club
About
The East Valley's Superstition Springs Golf Club offers one of Arizona's most testing layouts, measuring over 7,000 yards, with a slope rating of 130. Golf course architect Greg H. Nash designed the course and worked with the landscape already in place to provide the abundant mounding, wide bunkers and good-looking but tough-playing water features.
By the time he had finished with the Superstition Springs Golf Club, Nash had created a golf course that Golfweek called one of America's Best Golf Courses.
After - or before - a round of golf at the Superstition Springs Golf Club, hit up the restaurant for breakfast, lunch or drinks either inside or on the patio, which overlooks the golf course's signature hole, the ninth.

Tortoise pace
GPS died on third hole. Called clubhouse, no spare carts. Foursome in front of us Must have been close friends because they would all drive up to a ball, one would hit, then go to next ball and so on. No urgency. When we teed off it was announced that pace of play was 4 hrs 15 minutes. What a joke. Took 5 hrs and 15 minutes. With no GPS if was hard to guess where to lay up.
Slow play
Our first 9 took 3.5 hours. We were following a 2 person scramble and they were so slowww. At one point 4 groups were backed up.
They did allow us to do front nine again or would have allowed us to get a rain check for second nine. It took us 1 hour 20 minutes to do second 9.
The sand traps were hard and some of fairways were getting brown. Is a very challenging golf course but I picked a very bad time to golf.
Overbooked
All was well until the 16th hole. We joineca twosome there and went to the 17th hole and found a 3 done on the fair way and a 4some waiting to hit before w we could ever ger ready to hit so we went to 18 and found 3 foursomes there so we called it a day.
Try this course
The score card was useless for anything other than keeping score. For such a nice course, one would expect a score card with more information about each hole. Also the bunkers needed a lot of work... very little sand in them. With that said, we had a great time and would highly recommend the course to others.
Fun! Greens fast
Very interesting Back 9. Fun must play it a second time to know back9 bettering
Fun course, good pace
Tee’d off at 3:15 and made it around all 18 holes with a 7:08 sunset.
Good for the money
Love the layout and views. Wish there was more of the off fairway grass. If not in the fairway, there is substantial sparse grass
This course has a very good layout
Played after 1 PM and pace of play was 4 hours. Very good!
Not a resort course
If you are flying to Arizona from parts unknown and you are expecting a beautiful resort course you will be disappointed! The course is scruffy and traps are dirt with washed out sand remnants. The play is slow and uninspiring. If this was your public municipal golf course you might enjoy it as a teaching course for your youngsters but resort course. Waste of money!
