Ahwatukee Country Club
About
The sun shines 350 days a year in Phoenix and you can enjoy this factor at Ahwatukee Country Club. "Ahwatukee" is Crow Indian for "house of dreams", but this could easily be the "golf course of dreams".
The semi-private Ahwatukee Country Club offers an 18-hole golf course designed by John Bulla in 1974 that is open year-round and includes a driving range, as well as a cart included in the greens fee. The golf course is par-72 and measures 6,713 yards from the championship tees.
The Ahwatukee Country Club golf course features a fairly wide-open layout, but has out-of-bounds areas on either side of the fairways - including some with houses, so watch out for those windows - as well as water hazards on some holes. The putting greens play fast.
After a tight front nine on the Ahwatukee Country Club golf course, things open up on a razor-sharp par-4 dogleg 10th hole, with no chance to cut corners: there's a towering forest to the left.

LPGA Pro Arlene Flynn and course comments.
Firstly the course...The condition has improved a great deal. Membership covers four courses...great value maybe for $4300 but I would love there to be an annual membership paid monthly just for Ahwahtukee. Say $1500 for the year including cart For tee times after 11am in summer and midday in winter. If they were to do this, I would also start a club with UK style weekend golf, events for competitive golfers. A monthly medal, a monthly stapleford and a club match play. Management, feel free to email me if you are at all interested in my ideas. Many working people I think would embrace this.
But this review is primarily about LPGA pro, Arlene Flynn. I recently started working with Arlene as a previous 12 handicapper who was returning to the game after a serious illness. Arlene has worked with my physical limitations and showed a deep level of understanding towards what I want to achieve. Like any great teacher she listens, and explains her thoughts in terms any player can understand. In my case, she understood I had a good grasp of swing mechanics and swing theory. Arlene communicates very clearly and uses video analysis as a tool with just the right balance of technical info as well as utilizing mental imagery as well as easily distilled instructions with the purpose of achieving the goals of the student.
It is very clear to me Arlene not only loves golf but genuinely loves teaching. Her desire to help every student from the beginner to the advanced player is clear to anyone who meets her. Doubtless she is in high demand in part because her prices are very reasonable nut most of all because she truly is one of the best teachers in AZ. Regardless of gender, age or golfing ability, I commend the services to you of LPGA Pro, Arlene Flynn to golfers everywhere. With quality practice and her quality instruction, Arlene will help you enjoy this wonderful game as you work towards your golfing goals.
Great track, going to be a great course!!!
First time playing here, pro shop was friendly and very helpful.
Pace was very good, staff at the turn were amazing and the conditions are good and you can see are improving.
Really liked this course and when speaking with some of the employees, they said it’s changed management and is turning around!! Can’t wait to come back and play next year👍
I love Tukee
Work in progress.
Played a quick Saturday morning round. Got out early and moved quickly. The places that you should hit the ball were all in good grassy shape. Anyplace there would normally be rough was sandy waste areas with some lacy weeds. Greens were fast and in reasonably good shape. People complaining about bare “fairways” were not hitting it in the fairway but with all the ground under repair on each side of things it definitely has more of a muni course feel than a country club. Wouldn’t pay a premium price but for a chill round it was enjoyable.
Surprisingly acceptable
Played this course year or more ago. Swore I would never go back. However new ownership has done a good job getting the course back into playable shape. Very enjoyable casual round.
Good value
New owners are making a real effort to improve the playing conditions. Unfortunately very slow play and no Marshall to get things going.
Value for $$$???
burchfield Course nee9s serious help in watering the course . So many scalded grounds around the course, tough to play!!!
Poor course condition
Played it last year, had some poor conditions but the price was in my price range. Played it this year and found the condition of the course had gotten worse. Conditions from tee boxes, fairways to greens was horrible. This is one course we will not be playing again.
A fun place to play
Being from Canada, we not played for 5 months, so golfing was good. Staff was friendly. Greens were good. Fairways were good. Rough needs a lot of work. Overall, had good time playing here.
Muni-esque
Not a real good course. Decent layout, and quite playable as long as you can move your ball several club lengths. Bad shape. hard to find grass to hit from. Compares well with other muni courses.
Decent value
Based on some of the reviews was a little leery but was pleasantly surprised. Greens were grainy but consistent.Traps good. Some bare spots in the fairways but it seems like the new owners are making an effort to change that. For the money my wife and I thought it was a good value. And would likely play again. Staff was cordial. Routing interesting
Nice Round of Golf
The course is adequate for a good round of golf without breaking the bank. If you’re looking for a well manicured track, pay the $150-$250 to get that! As long as you don’t hit way L or R there’s enough grass to have decent lies. I’ve played courses in much worse condition, this was nowhere close. I booked as a solo and got teamed up with another single and 2-some without any issues. The pace of play was about 4 hours as it was steadily busy. I’d come play this again when in Phx.
Played this course yesterday as a 3 sum, yes the previous reviews were right about the conditions. The fairways and greens are in great shape and the rough is mainly made of sand. If you keep the ball in the fairway you will have no problem with the conditions of this course. If you’re looking for a relaxing executive course in the heart of the city this is the place for you. For the price and value this course was amazing, the staff were really helpful and super accommodating. I’m Looking forward to seeing this course grow and become better each day!
