TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course
About
Designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf, The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale was purpose-built to host the PGA Tour's Phoenix Open, and it has done so since 1987. Designed with high drama in mind, the venue is well known as one of the most exciting and fan-friendly in all of golf, which includes a thrilling finishing stretch that begins with the risk-reward 15th hole. The course plays to over 7,200 yards from the tournament tees, but golfers who play the course during their Arizona golf vacation will find the layout has more forgiving fairways than many other area desert courses. The TPC experience includes one of the most encompassing practice areas in the destination, as well as grand clubhouse that includes the Toro Restaurant and Rum Bar. TPC Scottsdale is also home to the Champions Course, which plays out of a separate facility nearby.

Major disappointment
What a disappointment today. For $225 per round after tax I expected a whole lot more. Summer time weather conditions with it being nearly 100° yet still charged full spring rates? As a whole, the course is in horrible shape. No notification or condition warnings about seasonal work bring done. Mowers and weedeaters on virtually every hole all day long. Fairways were in ok shape but the rough is all yellowed out. Greens were obviously just aerated and sanded...it was like putting on concrete and not a single shot would hold the green. I know there's a giant tournament held here every February, but you think they could throw some sod down on the plots where there were grandstand posts on 16, 17 or 18? I mean....it has been 3 months. When booking this round it was advertised with a "Four-Caddie" to be included. On the 1st tee, we were told the 4 caddies stopped last week...what the heck did we pay extra for? And at that price, nothing else complimentary included? When I played here a few years ago, we got a couple complimentary water bottles, a sleeve of ProV1's, a bag tag, and a couple granola bars. Today, we got fresh ice in the ice chest and a bag tag. That's it.... AND we were advised no outside refreshments at check in so what's the point of fresh ice? Gps golf carts slow to an embarrassing crawl if your tee shot strays and you drive outside the fairway to find a ball. Not everyone is a scratch golfer who hits EVERY fairway ya know, not even the PROS. So yeah, a very dissatisfied customer today. It will be along time before I play TPC Scottsdale again. The west valley has dozens of courses in better condition for a 1/4 the price.
Great course - but at a price
Great to play where the Phoenix open was played but was quite expensive.
An Amazing Experience
From the moment I arrived through the 19th hole, the experience was amazing. The staff, course, caddy, and food were all excellent. Our caddy, Dan, did a great job helping us to navigate the course and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I will be back!
Better course than I remembered. Especially leading up to the final stretch. But, let’s be honest, the reason you play the Stadium course is for the fantastic four-hole finishing stretch.
Wow
No words to describe the experience playing this course! Go if you can!
Amazing Course but Overpriced
This is truly an amazing golf course but the pricing is absurd. My review is meant to be positive but they are getting too greedy by charging over $500 per round. I took my son to play there with the Grand Stands up for the Waste Management tournament, that is the only reason I agreed to pay these high prices. C'mon TPC! You can do better on pricing!
Very nice courses
Every thing is perfect, but prices are still high.
Tourist trap but still amazing
It's double or triple what you will pay at other courses, but the last few holes make it worth it.
Perfect driving range, completely flat, short cut grass that wasn't too beat up. Chipping green was in outstanding condition.
Cart path only, wet in the morning, front 9 isn't too interesting outside of the stands on the #1 tee box. Thick 2 inch rough around all the fairways. Perfect greens. Short cut tees and fairways. Sand in the bunkers was being replaced with tour-quality sand which was firm.
Carts had good GPS that you never end up using because your caddy will shoot the number for you. I drove on the cart path on 16 and the cart still shut down which was odd. Great grill at turn with a diverse menu and you can put in orders ahead of time.
So many fun holes to play on the back 9. 10 was a dogleg with stands surrounding the green. 14 was a long par 4 to an uphill green. 15 has a tight tee shot to an island green. 16 has 20,000 seats around you. 17 is a reachable par 4 from the blues. 18 is a fun uphill finishing hole with a tight landing area over water/bunkers.
Biggest issue was pace of play. Took 5+ hours to complete the round. There was a slow foursome of 20-somethings that were over a hole behind the group in front of them, with no desire to speed up at the ranger's request. This course will attract that crowd.
Winter at TPC STADUM
Second time playing just before tournament.. more effort on having #16 complete. Maybe add speakers for enhanced exsperance... To fill the players exsperance to justify High Greens fees. Thank you William W Lewis lll
Well worth the money
This was such a bucket list experience it was so amazing something to be seen and enjoyed Every aspect of the experience was amazing We enjoyed seeing how the big guys get to play this amazing game of golf
Pro shop staff a little snooty but that’s ok .
We were unable to finish the course due to darkness and slow play in front of us . Tee’d off at 2:00 and payed a lot $ would have loved to at least play hole 16 . Just sayin
Bucket Checkmark
The course is a golfer's paradise, boasting picturesque views and challenging greens that keep you on your toes. A premier destination blending scenic beauty with an exciting golfing experience, making it a must-visit for any enthusiast.
Lovely round
We had an extremely enjoyable round. However if there is any way to limit beginners to playing a little later it might help when golfers are joined in to a four ball. I would say today we had 3 players with index’s between 10 and 20 and then a third player with no handicap and at best would be 45. Whilst we we all beginners once and cannot discriminate having a minimum index for such a course at prime time might enhance the experience. Many top European course still ask for a handicap certificate or digital version. And have a higher limit at certain prime times to keep speed of play to a sensible time and enhance every players experience.
TPC Scottsdale - Excellent Course
I played TPC Scottsdale - The Stadium Course for the first time and I was amazed how different it looks with all the people and the grandstands gone. The course was in really great shape and is very picturesque. It is worth playing again!
