Legend Trail Golf Club
About
When the architect Rees Jones created the golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club, he created a golf course that brings out the Old West-style air of Scottsdale and a fun and testing golf course with greens made of bent grass. It's a premium golf course smack dab in the Sonora Desert.
The golf course at the Legend Trail Golf Club features broad fairways, diminutive bunkering and tees placed on islands, and has been called one of the Top 100 golf courses by Golf Magazine. The magazine also gives Legend Trail 4.5 stars out of five among its
Best Places to Play, and has one of the Top 100 Woman-Friendly Fairways, according to Golf For Women magazine. Panoramas include local sites like Pinnacle Peak, and a round at Legend Trail Golf Club gives all levels of golfer several different shot-making options.
Golf a late-afternoon round on Friday or Saturday, and head back to the Trail's End Grill from 4 to 6 p.m. for specials on drinks and appetizers.

Another Great Hole Photo submitted by mhinkle on 09/23/2012
Always a great round!
I truly love Legend Trail. It is one of, if not my favorite course in the greater Phoenix area. It is a fair test of golf, that builds throughout the round. Starting off easy and gradually getting more complex as the round goes on is a great feat of the designer!
The Pro-shop is always well stocked and has some great offerings. The staff is attentive and personable.
The course was in amazing shape for early August, but I have never been here when it wasn't!
F&B is slightly limited in the summer, but they were still more than accommodating as they even turned the grill back on after closing to grill up 2 quick hot dogs at the turn. The staff was super friendly about the situation and was very interactive and attentive during our wait.
The beverage cart made last call while we were on the front nine, but she communicated this fact twice with us and was more than helpful in our options on her last stop.
The staff and superintendent should be very proud of the work they do. We always have a great time here and will look to play here more regularly in the future! It rivals all of the courses in the nearby vicinity without the hefty price tags!
Slow play on back nine.
No ranger to speed along play. We walked off course because of waiting on every shot.
Great Golf Course!
We drove up, and the friendly staff was there to get our bags and direct us to the pro shop. Easy check in, free range balls, and good pace of play. We wereonly backed up on a few par threes, which is to be expected. Course was in good shape, great lunch afterwards, all around great experience.
Fun Course
Fun layout, a little tight, but a golf course that is enjoyable to play. Good value. Greens a little bumpy but otherwise nice. Good quick speed.
Great Day - Loved the Course!
The course and the practice facilities were in fantastic condition. My group -- I'm local, but had three buddies in from Wisconsin -- loved it. Will definitely be back and would most certainly recommend the course to friends and family.
Great Public Course
Great course with very good conditions. Some difficult holes. I would think fir the price of 18 holes the carts would come gps course layout and yardage.
Terrific layout. Beware the back nine.
This course will lull you to sleep on a relatively easy front nine. The back nine will eat your lunch unless you play it smart. Quite a few forced carries to the fairways, but the ladies tees play too short for good players. One big problem that Legend Trail needs to address...the poa annua grass is spotty and sometimes thick everywhere, fairways and greens. Later in the day, the greens are very lumpy and difficult to putt. Otherwise, this is one of the most interesting layouts in the valley, in my opinion.
Mixed reviews
I hadn't played Legend Trail in several years and was looking forward to it. While I enjoyed it, it didnt meet my expectations this time. We had a 12:54 tee time and got around the front nine in an hour and 45 minutes, but the back nine was more than two and a half hours...very slow play. Also, there's a LOT of Poa grass in the greens and by the time we played, they were very bumpy and irregular as a result. Frankly, I wouldn't play there again until they get rid of the Poa.
Nice track, my only dislike was the greens had a lot of Poanna in them and your Putts bounced.
Good layout, greens were brutal
The greens have poa annua patches everywhere which really affects the consistency. There was a ton of ballmarks, greens overall were in very poor condition. Overall not worth the price, much better value out there.
Nice layout but way overpriced.
For $287 you would think they would give you a couple of waters in the cooler. They do give you ice but no water. The course has a nice layout. Homes are a little too close for me and some fairways areas and green areas were sketchy but maintained otherwise. We played in 4 hours and 5 min and did not see anyone behind us for the whole round yet we were scolded by the ranger for playing too slow. Just odd. We had a good time and would consider playing there again. If I could not get a time at some of the similarly priced tracks.
