About
Hillcrest Golf Club possesses a championship length course that offers a great variety of game options with five sets of tees. The course has a traditional design that features open fairways lined with trees, which put a premium on straight shots. The greens vary greatly with some that are relatively flat and medium sized and others that are quite large and dramatically sloped or multi-tiered. In addition to several sand bunkers, water hazards in the forms of lakes and ponds come into play. The signature hole is the par-5 13th, which has been touted by the Phoenix Gazette as being on of the best holes in the state. Hillcrest Golf Club not only has a dogleg around a lake, the hole requires an approach shot uphill to a green that is guarded by eight bunkers.

One and done
Got an Email about deals at the golf course, so decided to try it. Heard about the course from several other golfers, many of whom had not played the course. Pretty much everyone said the layout was very good, but conditions were very poor. That pretty much sums it up. The clubhouse desk guy said how they were continuing to improver the course, but it must have been really bad before they started improvements. Not sure what they improved. Greens were on low side OK as were the fairways. Bunkers lacked sand and not maintained. Lots of bare ground. Cart paths looked like old wagon train trails. Couple of ruts with broken up bituminous. Overall OK for $28 with cart, but even at that price, will pay more and play other courses in Sun City West.
Course conditions were not great
The employees were great. But the conditions even with rain a few days before were not good.
Potential
I liked the layout of this course and fairways and greens were mostly fine but it definitely needs some TLC. Has the potential to be a really nice course.

Very good overall - pace of play a bit slow but enjoyable round!
Beautiful BUT
The Fairway is amazing - greens were wonderful ….. BUT anything not on fairways is in muddy tracks - large unkempt areas …. pace of play was slow - and it was a twosome in front of our foursome . The Bar closed promptly at 4 pm …. However the Pro Shop and the cart fellas were amazing and FRIENDLY !’n
Great course value
Fairways and greens in awesome shape. Traps were awful. I don’t understand why people do not fix ball marks on the greens anymore. Selfish I guess. Good track for the money.

i am sorry that you feel the course was in bad shape. We will be leveling out and filling the old cart paths this summer along with adding more sand in the bunkers. we would like for you to come back and give us another try.
