still needs work
played last week for the first time on this course. great layout and could be fun to play, but the fairway, bunkers, and greens need work bad. only play this course if you can get a hot deal, then its worth the money. I will go back though. :)
Great layout. 18 Hole (Elevated tee, from tee to green is about 150ft drop) you must play from the back tee on hole 18 to get the view..
Need to cut grass on holes 14 and 16. Lost my ball on the fairway. Bring some fly spray...
Needs Repairs
I played this course several years ago and it was beautiful. Everything was maintained and in great shape. It was so disappointing to see it in such need of repair. It looks like they have not mowed around the tee box all year. High grass in need of mowing was everywhere except the fairway and green, both of which were also in need of attention. The bunkers had not been worked all year and had grass knee deep in them. Forget playing out of them. This was just about the worse condition I have seen a golf course in my 30 years of playing.
Well worth the GolfNow Price I got, but would be disappointing at Retail
The Greens were decently maintained and rolled fine. Expected this time of year. The fairways were cut properly but the first cut to second cut of rough was a bit over grown and ungroomed. I can deal with that, but nearly 80% of the bunkers I saw were over grown with Grass and Weeds, luckily I wasnt in them much, but really took away from the overall appearance of this course.
DONT PLAY HERE
Course is in awful shape from fairways to greens to rough. Staff is terrible and doesnt fill the water coolers. Would not play here for free.
The only positive of the course is the free yardage book (which gets a 5 star and the lovely woman who worked the restaurant.bar. Also the pro shop w
In my 15 years of playing golf, has to be the worst condition course I ever played. Every tee box containing ant holes, no real grass (just patches here there) on the fairways, every bunker with 3-4 inch weeds/flowers and dirty sand (no rakes I understand why now), along with deteriorated slow greens. No ball cleaners on any holes. Just totally shocking especially considering the location and community. Just bad, dead geese on the court (had to be dead for a few days). Never played a course that had a sign on the tee box (hole 16) that told you not to hit driver/wood on the hole (drive-able Par 4), unbelievable. The rating should be 0 stars
Greens are ok
Much attention needed to this course. tee boxes, fairways, bunkers all need work, and there were no water coolers in any of the designated spots.
n special features
Played this course several times in the past and really enjoyed it.
Course is in terrible shape. No sand in bunkers, farways are patchy, greens are in need of aeration.
much better than the last time.
Course was well maintained aside from the bunkers and the 18th tee boxes.
This course is in terrible shape, all areas.
This course is in terrible need of maintenance. Traps are full of grass, no sand. Fairways are completely weeded over. Greens are full of various grasses and weeds.
What happened!!!????
I used to play course when I lived in Richmond but this was 1st time back in 10+years and I couldn't believe how the course had been allowed to degrade from a premier course to municipal level course. No grass to be found all weeds and no distinction of fairways to rough, greens all po and if your shot landed on the green from anywhere count on a waist high bounce and being off the back of the green! Bridges falling apart very unsafe. At 15$ it's barely worth playing if you live in the area and make sure you buy balls before you go,none in pro shop!
Terrible Course
Despite being in a pretty nice area, the course is in terrible condition. Though the staff was friendly, the club house was a wreck inside. The outskirts of the course are completely overgrown. You cannot tell the difference between the fairway and the rough. There are a lot of wet spots on the course due to bad drainage, and the bunkers have more grass and rocks in them than they have sand. I played there with a friend and it took us about 3 1/2 hours, but we probably could have finished in less than three if the group in front of us would have let us play through. It was a Sunday morning and there was a fair amount of people on the course, so I was surprised to not see a single marshall anywhere on the course. The only staff members I saw there were the guy working in the golf shop and the beverage cart girl. I was excited when i found the deal on here for $22 with a cart, but honestly, I wouldn't play here again unless it was free.
Great views from over half of the holes.
A little money needs to be spent to bring the fairways, and especially the sand traps, up to standard. Greens were in good shape for this time of yesr.
Worst kept course in the area
I have never written a review for anything before. River's Bend used to be one of the best around, but it now appears that they have given up maintaining the course. The course was not nearly full, but they had no cart for us until other groups finished (further evidence of them cutting corners). There is hardly no grass anywhere, nor any evidence it has been seeded. Last year, this course had crabgrass fairways - now I wished they even had that. I have played this course a lot over the past 10-15 years, but I will not be going back.
No Carts
Arrived 25 minutes before our scheduled tee time and people were waiting outside for carts to come in. We were to get the fifth cart to come in. No starter/marshal to monitor. Estimated we would have waited 1.5 hours to start. Left and went elsewhere.
Graet course needs work
This is a great layout and beautiful setting. The course has run down over the past few years, especially the bunkers and fairways. The management seems to be working on bringing up the conditions of the course.
It suits me to play here but I'm not too picky.
Greens are ok
Greens are ok but everything else is in pretty bad shape. Bunkers non existent and fairways do not have grass. I would never pay more than $15 for a round. The people working there are very nice though.
Tight course- grounds need serious attention
Played on Tuesday morning- only 2 other groups playing.
Grounds in horrible condition. Fairways were crabgrass, and crabgrass was spouting through most of the greens. Bunkers have grown over with weeds & crabgrass. Looks as though they might just let it go to create a links style course! Sad, the scenery is nice, course is challenging and well laid out, but looks as though the groundskeepers went on strike for a year or two...
