Slammer and Squire Golf Course at World Golf Village
About
World Golf Village is home to 36 challenging holes of championship golf. The Slammer & Squire Course is named after the two World Golf Hall of Fame legends, Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, who served as consultants to the course's designer, Bobby Weed. The golf course is known for its tricky par-3 holes and the carefully preserved beauty of the landscape. Its traditional layout meanders through native flatwoods and hardwood hammocks, running alongside wetland preserves and a wildlife habitat. The scenic Slammer & Squire Course features contoured greens and gently rolling, generous fairways. There is also an abundance of water on the golf course in the forms of lakes and marshes.

16th Hole Par 3. 12 inches from the pin. Photo submitted by Walter6421436 on 08/14/2013
Seasonal dormant grass + difficult pin positions
Generally very fine conditions, layout make for interesting and challenging round for even above average golfer. Seasonal conditions and pin placements made round more difficult than normal.
Good day of golf!
This place is awesome! The stretch of holes 3 thru 8 are some of the prettiest holes anywhere on the planet! I live locally and have wanted to play this course since it opened. It was better than I expected! Worth the $$$$!!!
WGV fun
Course was in good shape for winter, green speeds were quick and consistent. Pace was good with slower groups allowing us through. Staff was was mixed, some super friendly, some seemed not so happy to be there? Good track!
very nice resort course
Upscale resort course; great conditions.
Pricey, look for discounts. Tricky fast greens.
Not very busy.
Loved it
I have wanted to play here for a while. Signed up on Golf Now discount and got first class service from the Bag drop, on practice tee, starter, on course, and end of round return to my car. Id love this to be my home course!!
Enjoyable Resort Course
I enjoyed this course. It is a typical Florida course - lots of water and sand. The landing areas are generous and the trouble is obvious. Staff was great, and sent me out as a single on a slow Sunday morning - finished in under four hours with no problem. Would recommend as long as you're up for paying resort prices.
Beautiful Course
The course is in excellent condition. We were able to play as just a twosome, which was nice. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
Very nice, but overpriced.
We arrived about an hour early by a friendly staff member to take us and our bags to check in. I was very surprised how slow it appeared considering it was a Saturday morning and the weather was perfect. We let the starter know we could go off as soon as he was ready and went to the practice green near the first tee. I understand we were early but was a little miffed that we no one teed off for the first twenty minutes we were there. Then the starter sent out a couple of foursomes in front of out twosome. Finally we teed off and yes we were still early so that was nice but by the time we reached the fifth tee we were waved thru both foursomes. At that point we did not see anyone in front or behind the rest of the round, nice. Anyway the course was very nice but perhaps too expensive hence the lack of play on a beautiful Saturday morning.
Excellent golf
Staff was superb and course was too. Convenient to I-95.
Can't wait to go back!
Had great outing with a good friend. The staff, from the parking lot, to the pro shop and the tavern were fantastic! We were told we would be paired with another twosome, when the Starter appeared and permitted us to go early and on our own. (We didn't ask)
Great day. I would recommend this course to anyone...
Great design!
Great course and in excellent condition. If you're hitting the ball decently you will score well. I would play it again in a heartbeat!
Beautiful pristine Resort style course.
9:50 tee time w/ Leah. $99/ea Golf Now Hot Deal rewarded free. Similar in quality to Waldorf Astoria GC, Shingle Creek GC, Orange Lake Resort - The Legends. Tee boxes, fairways, greens lush & plushly carpeted w/o any weeds. Wide tee shot landing ares. Large elevated greens rolling true & fast. Some unique hole layouts. Top notch Pro shop & clubhouse located adjacent to the Golf Hall of Fame. Battery powered carts w/ windshield & rain cover in back. An expensive course I'd never be able to afford, as well as most people & that's why the pace was tremendously good because hardly anyone was playing.
Great condition & Great value
It was extremely cold for the area (40 when I started at 9:30) and I was the first person off the 1st tee. Course was in great condition - especially the greens. I played the King&Bear two days before and was really disappointed in the course's condition so I was concerned this course would be in the same condition. Bad storms came through the area a couple of days before but you couldn't tell it by the course - it was prestine! Overall, a great experience!
Parfait
Magnifique terrain. Comme toujours. C'est toujours un grand plaisir d'y revenir chaque année.
Wonderful day of golf
This is a very enjoyable experience except for 5:45 hour pace of play.
Great looking course but unplayable on 11/5/2014
I agree completely with 10/30/2014 review. The course had been recently overseeded, the fairways were wet (rain, dew, watering), and it was cart path only. None of this was mentioned in golfnow reservation. My wife and I had to take 2-3 clubs, range finder, and divot sand back and forth on every shot. It was not fun. There were several crews doing work on the bunkers. We quit after 9 holes and we are not quitters. The course should have been closed. We saw only one other group of golfers on the course.
PGA high standard great for amateurs
The course was in beautiful condition except it
had been freshly seeded and we were asked not
to use golf cart on fairways only on cart paths.
It made it a long walk and very bad for selecting the correct club for the distance you had to guess when
walking to your ball. Had we told this when reservation was made at Golf Now we would not
have played this course as my wife has problem with her knees and this made it unbearable for her.
Nice place, long round poor food options
The coarse is very nice, one that I would play regularly if I were in the area. The food options in the clubhouse are slim to none. The pace of play is terrible.
Slammer and Squire
I really enjoyed this course. I was paired up with 2 others and had a very enjoyable round. The course was in great shape. The greens were very consistent with a smooth roll. I would recommend this course to everyone.
Great as well for a relatively new golfer
Don't be intimidated by this course ladies it's actually very playable
